The Role:

We are looking for a dynamic individual, with proven experience of working in a fast-paced environment a fast-paced environment, ideally from within the Luxury Cosmetic or Personal Care industry, with a focus on e-commerce. The Procurement Director, North America will be responsible for sourcing and cost reduction within all Procurement Categories (Direct & Indirect), with 90% of the focus on Indirects, as well as all associated Policies and Strategies required in region.

The individual will take a lead role in influencing both central and regional key stakeholders towards a category plan which theyve helped develop across the teams, including a pipeline and roadmap for delivery.

The individual will need to both perform at Individual Contributor level, whilst also developing and implementing strategic processes/policies, as initially the role will be standalone, with expectation over time to seek business case approval to grow a team to support as Americas volume and complexity growth increases.

This role will have regional full responsibility leading on Policy, Strategy and Processes and where global strategy developed from UK HQ supporting the Global Head of from the central team, with the regional sourcing of global contracts, or local contracts according to global directive.

The ideal candidate will have a broad spectrum of Procurement experience across all categories, in particular within store design/VM/fixtures and fittings in luxury stores, and concessions and Marketing & PR/Events requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for development and delivery of the Americas sourcing strategy, working with regional leads (where appropriate) to deliver a plan in agreement with the Global Procurement Director.
  • Spend Mapping of all associated spend data to support sourcing strategy, including deep dive analysis of spend within America entities.
  • Leadership role working with regional stakeholders to develop a local sourcing plan and project roadmap.
  • Project managing regular supplier cost initiative meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as Supplier Relationship Management at a regional level.
  • As part of category strategy identify risks and consolidation opportunities within supply base, including specification of needs vs. wants.
  • Analyse the current supply base with key operational stakeholders and present alternate solutions that optimise business growth and improve business efficiencies, including cost.
  • Developing and owning in agreement with the Global Procurement Director, Cost Initiative reduction targets on a 12-month rolling annual basis.
  • Forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on all assigned cost initiatives monthly, including ownership within the Cost Initiative pipeline tracker, and associated rebate tracking.
  • New supplier sourcing and tendering programs with development and monitoring of full 12-month sourcing pipeline.
  • Negotiation of terms and conditions for supplier contracts, managing inputs from operational stakeholders and liaising with legal team to ensure contracts signed within appropriate timescales, including contracting with legacy suppliers currently not under terms, within Contracts Policy.
  • Develop and implement regional procurement/sourcing processes to ensure maverick spend minimised/eradicated, and multiple similar vendor set-ups consolidated and robustly challenged.
  • Set-up and manage supplier risk management policy for in region vendors.
  • Support the global PM Excellence & Process in drafting and rolling out key procurement/sourcing policies within the business, leading on in region specific requirements.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Direct Reporting line into Global Procurement director (Magic Office - London)

Key Selection Criteria:

COMPETENCY MUST HAVES:

  • Learning Curve - Capability to quickly take on board and disseminate new data/info around operational business needs and quickly develop into a sourcing plan of action, and ultimately a category strategy.
  • Attention to Detail Able to work in a fast-paced environment, without making unchecked errors across a wide range of cost initiative projects at the same time.
  • Managing Priorities - Ability to commit and deliver against deadlines agreed, where there will be multiple priorities to consider and manage, being able to pivot as required.
  • Project Management Must be conversant with both sourcing tenders/RFP processes as well as VAVE project management with suppliers. Ability to manage both external and internal stakeholders to deliver a project on time, with significant associated savings.
  • Commercial acumen - Must have strong negotiation skills with clear demonstrable consistent cost saving achievements both from tendering and negotiation, as well as project managing value engineering cost initiatives. Ability to train other stakeholders in the art of negotiation.
  • Autonomy Must be able to take responsibility for own resource time, prioritising highest value/ROI projects and ownership of delivery, vs more strategic requirements, with minimal direct support.
  • Strategic/Tactical all rounder ability to switch between strategic management and C-suite influencer to individual contributor running all projects and analysis across categories.

EXPERIENCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of US cosmetics market, supplier capabilities and competitor activity at a regional level.
  • Previous procurement experience within Cosmetic or Personal care business.
  • Previous experience supporting both Direct & Indirect categories within retail environments.
  • Previous experience and expertise supporting both SD & VM Indirect category is absolute must, plus ideally having another category expertise in one or more of the following: Marketing, PR & Events, Tech, Influencer Agencies, Creative production, Travel.
  • Must have developed and implemented Indirect category strategy reviews and category plans in above categories.
  • Annual Procurement team KPI development and Supplier SLA Monitoring as part of QBR process.
  • Must be conversant with and developed strong tender briefs across large value complex projects.
  • Strong data analysis capability to support category strategy development.
  • Sound legal contract knowledge and experience, taking ownership of contracting process.
  • Must be comfortable working with ambiguous and/or incomplete information to achieve a significant cost benefit result.
  • Demonstrated use and implementation of source to contract e-sourcing tools a distinct advantage.
  • Building a procurement team from the ground up/Greenfield prior experience, from business case to implementation.
