Location

Infleqtion has 6 office locations, operating out of Austin, TX; Boulder/Louisville, CO; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL; London, UK; and Melbourne, AU. This position is a full-time, hybrid position which will be located in our Austin, Texas or Louisville, Colorado offices.

Position Summary

Infleqtion is seeking an exceptional and experienced Product Chief Engineer with significant Systems Engineering experience to drive the process of productizing hardware systems, turning research prototypes into manufacturable and scalable products. Reporting to the Sr Director of Product Development, the Product Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the product development and delivery lifecycle, leading systems engineering efforts on critical product development programs and driving implementation of Infleqtions Product Life Cycle (PLC) processes and procedures. In this role, the selected candidate will work cross-functionally as a key contributor to bring quantum technologies to market. The individual in this role has significant opportunity to influence Infleqtions product development process and is critical to driving Infleqtions market leadership in quantum products.

Job Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned.

  • Lead product development engineering efforts, including
    • Development of system level requirements and flow-downs in accordance with product strategies and objectives
    • Translating program objectives into system and product architecture
    • Creation of core systems engineering documentation such as Product Requirement Documents, subsystem and lower-level requirements specifications, Interface Control Documents, and hardware/software interaction specifications
    • Definition and execution of modelling, simulation, and analytical efforts required to enable successful product design and verification and long-term product lifecycle objectives
    • Product configuration management using SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) Vault (or similar) with support from engineering team leads
    • Coordination and execution of system and subsystem level reviews (such as Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, Product Life Cycle Phase Gates, and executive updates)
  • Lead key systems engineering support to critical test efforts, including
    • Development of product Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) processes and procedures and engineering support to AI&T activities
    • Development of product Verification and Validation (V&V) test processes and procedures and engineering support to V&V test activities
    • Development of product Qualification and Acceptance test processes and procedures and engineering support to qual and acceptance test activities
  • Lead oversight of subcontractor and supply base systems engineering processes and procedures, tests, deliverable reviews; ensure compliance with systems engineering flow-downs throughout the system architecture to drive produce requirements compliance from lower-level assemblies through system-level AI&T
  • Support the development and refinement of Product Life Cycle (PLC) processes extensible across a wide range of current and future Infleqtion product development efforts
  • Support the development of volume manufacturing and test strategies, procedures, automated test equipment, facility configurations, capital equipment specifications and procurements
  • Drive development and execution of risk management plans and provide engineering support for reliability analysis and continuous improvement
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Bachelors degree is required, with a focus in engineering, science, physics, or technology field
  • 8+ years of relevant and progressive experience in a similar role
  • Experience with product delivery, new product introduction, Product Life Cycle processes, and Systems Engineering, preferable with mid to high volume commercial products
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with all levels of an organization; Professional-level communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a highly collaborative, cross-functional, team-oriented, and matrixed environment
  • Desire and demonstrated ability to thrive and produce results in a fluid, dynamic, and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new and complex topics quickly
  • Resourceful problem-solver who collaboratively identifies effective paths forward with demonstrated expertise in executing productization efforts
  • Passion for solving complex problems and challenges in a highly technical and scientific environment
  • Ability to travel domestically and (potentially) internationally up to 10%
  • This role may require that you do not require sponsorship or a work visa transfer

    This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Desired Skills

  • Masters or PhD degree in engineering, science, physics, or technology field
  • Experience with product qualification, including qualification testing for compliance with relevant Mil-Specs
  • Experience in hardware DFx (Design for cost, manufacturing, assembly, test, sustainment)
  • Experience in advanced technologies and hi-tech products
  • Experience developing research prototypes into volume products
  • Experience working with complex systems that integrate hardware, firmware, and software. Knowledge of best practices in software engineering
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Benefits

The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $190,000.
