Experienced Chemist who possesses an entrepreneurial spirit with creativity to formulate, apply and evaluate new and existing PSA systems for new opportunities for Medical and Specialty Tape Applications. This individual will possess a hands-on capability and lead Technician support to collaborate with a focused Business team to support Technical Service and New Product Development projects. This individual will evaluate, modify, and formulate adhesives from the lab scale through commercialization to meet processing and application performance targets. Work with EHS Team to identify regulatory status of new components and formulations to ensure compliance with TSCA, FDA, REACH and any customer restricted substance requirements while developing/compounding and evaluating in the areas of Solvent, Emulsion, Melt Polymer, and UV Curable Systems predominantly, Acrylic and Synthetic Rubber from the lab bench to manufacturing. Performs other related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant Adhesive industry experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of pressure Sensitive Adhesive chemistries, properties, and coating application techniques are valuable. Hands-On Experience of formulating, mixing, and compounding Melt, emulsion, and solution polymers is favorable. Knowledge of Industry standard test methods and procedures. Experience with release liners and substrates is a plus. Ability to perform and interpret applicable physical and chemical analysis of materials. Ability to establish technical credibility and presence with both internal and external customers. Knowledge of patents and IP procedures. Strong organizational skills required to keep project team focused, to track progress, and to adjust priorities. Display a sense of accountability and take ownership of project success. Acute attention to detail. Proficient in MS Windows/WORD/EXCEL. Creative, flexible, and innovative team player. Must be able to lift to 25 pounds.
