ITE Management, a leading investment manager specializing in the transportation sector, is looking for a product manager to join its dynamic and rapidly growing Labs team in NY. Founded in 2014, ITE is an investment firm that targets real asset investment opportunities that are cash yielding with downside protection. ITE combines a team with deep, long standing relationships and financial and operating expertise in rail, aviation, and intermodal with an entrepreneurial mindset and culture.

Our team of professionals provide extensive experience in investments, portfolio management, risk management, data analytics, credit analysis and industry-specific operations. Today, the firm manages over $3.32bn of investor capital across various industrial and transportation related verticals, with office locations in NYC, Chicago and St. Louis. Due to the firms dynamic and forward-thinking approach, the capital commitments have tripled in the past three years. Today, ITE manages just under $5.7bn of real assets across freight railcars, commercial aircraft, and intermodal.

ITE Labs is the firms data platform and technology hub, formed in 2020 to optimize and scale operations with data and technology, pushing through more value from our assets to our investors and partners. Our unique ability to collect, analyze and productize data via highly sophisticated data analytics techniques, informs and augments the firms ability to drive more opportunities, not just in the rail sector, but across various transportation and industrial strategies. We come from a diverse set of backgrounds tech, finance, academia, etc. and are agile with an entrepreneurial mindset, frequently testing new ideas and approaches so that we challenge our perspectives and incorporate that edge into everything we build.


Job Description:

The Product Management Lead will join the ITE Labs team in organizing The People and managing The Products to impact and shape ITE Managements product strategy. Youll manage stakeholders on the rail, intermodal, engineering, data science, risk, investor relations and investment teams, while using your agile product management mindset to drive every internal product from inception to completion, ensuring the highest levels of usability and adoption. Ultimately, your user empathy, advanced technical know-how, and communication strategies will add tremendous value and help ITE build internal products and tools that create direct impact to our firms day-to-day operational workflow. You will be the first product hire at ITE and have a tremendous impact on how our team thinks about data at this early juncture in ITEs growth.

You Will:

  • Drive our product strategy and own our product development process, ensuring that all current and future products are maintained and continue to serve the goals of the teams that use them
  • Immerse yourself in everything our industry calls for monitoring industrial transportation & financial markets, up-and-coming fintech apps & tools, technical best practices, etc. and pour your technical expertise and ideas back into building great products for ITE and its partners
  • Work closely with ITEs portfolio managers to extract and translate asset strategy into data-driven products that helps scale the team effectively
  • Lead pre-planning project scopes and design new features, working with a cross-functional team of engineers, business leads, data analysts/scientists, to achieve product-market fit for new initiatives
  • Capture user requirements and translate into technical specifications for engineering
  • Assist with maintaining the documentation technical and instructional of that product throughout its lifecycle
  • Lead cross-functional processes to ensure timely delivery, budget, and scope, with proactive communication touch-points for key stakeholders along the way
  • Manage and synthesize backlogs of issues consisting of new feature requests, data requests, support tickets, bugs, epics, stories, etc.
  • Be the blocker breaker and surface any bottlenecks to the right pod so solutions are tried, tested and launched effectively
  • Have a pulse on and be able to communicate the progress of a product build and its gaps at any given time
  • Oversee user-testing and QA, communicating any quality issues to the respective business lead, domain data analyst, and engineers
  • Conduct consistent and thoughtful user research on new and existing products, and ensure that user feedback is regularly incorporated into the product
  • Be a thought partner to the Labs and leadership teams, consistently communicating product initiatives as they relate to the wider firm

Requirements

You Have:

  • 6-8 years of product management and/or experience with building data-driven products while successfully managing a technical team
  • A proven track record as a technical product leader defining strategy and owning execution of multiple products
  • Managed products powered by structured, unstructured, and alternative datasets in multiple pipelines
  • Strong user empathy and a desire to solve problems for technical and non-technical users
  • Strong experience with teams programming in SQL and/or Python/R, and you yourself can easily write code to query data
  • Successfully communicated technical concepts and business value propositions to executives, operating teams and a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
  • A strong affinity for goal-setting and building product roadmaps
  • Experience with agile task management tools, like Jira or similar, to organize agile teams and workloads
  • Strong experience with business intelligence tools like PowerBI or Tableau
  • Some software development experience and a working knowledge of APIs
  • An excellent understanding of technology in general, including how data and cloud systems work
  • A strong understanding of git repositories, source/version control, and how to effectively organize technical documentation
  • A willingness to take on whats needed to support the team, even if it is outside of your skillset
  • Tenacity and are unafraid to ask questions that promote alignment among all stakeholders

Bonus but not mandatory:

  • Advanced level coding/software development experience (SQL, Python/R, C++, Java)
  • Experience in building fintech products for asset/portfolio managers in financial services
  • Certification in agile product or project management
  • Experience with wire-framing and ability to sketch out possible UI/UX for data visualization and/or dashboard creation in tools like PowerBI or Tableau

Salary Range:

Estimated base salary range for this position is: $150,000 - $200,000. Employees may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
