Our client focuses on investing and managing student housing apartments in the United States, along with full range of student services. Our client has a value-add strategy that includes launching a lease-up marketing plan for vacant units, attracting international students and reducing operating cost to improve management efficiency. We are currently seeking a Property Accountant. The Property Accountant will be responsible for all accounting and financial reporting and analysis pertaining to a designated portfolio of properties. The Property Accountant will report to the firms Accounting Director and work closely with the members of the property management, development, acquisition, and leasing teams to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and effectively reported to Executive Management.Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:Responsible for the preparation and review of cash basis financial statements for each property, including the preparation and posting of all required month-end journal entriesRecord monthly adjusting and accrual entriesUpdate fixed asset system for additions and disposals and record monthly depreciation/amortizationMonitor cash balances and recommend capital calls and distributions from/to investorsPrepare reports/documents to external auditors and maintains applicable documentationPrepare monthly financial statement analysis according to GAAP with variance reportingAssist in the annual audit and tax return preparationReconciliation of outstanding debt to bank statementsCapitalization of costs in accordance with IRS guidelinesMaintain fixed asset ledgers and roll forward of capital accountsResponsible for all compliance related matters pertaining to the portfolioQualifications:Bachelors Degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or universityProperty/Real Estate Accounting experience, preferredWorking knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingExperience within fast paced, deal-oriented organizationsVery Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to directly work with Executives / Department Heads to set and enforce appropriate policies and proceduresIdeal Candidates will be:Looking for a long term fit within a growing companyReady to learn and growHave a self-starter and initiative-based mindsetBe well-versed in analytics and making fact-based decisionsWhat We offer YOU:Full benefits including Medical, Dental, 401K Match, and moreA fast-paced work environment with room to growPaid time off and HolidaysOther benefits including Employee Assistance Programs and Engagement ActivitiesThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
