General Clerk Purchasing- Naval Air Station Patuxent River

Purchasing Clerks on NAS Patuxent River team come from all areas of the Tri County of Southern Maryland including California, Ridge, Hollywood, Mechanicsville, Leonardtown, Waldorf, Laplata, Lusby, Solomons. Primary responsibility of the position is purchasing, monitoring supplies and inventory, research and ordering as instructed. The Purchasing Clerk is an essential part of day to day operations. The ideal EMI Purchasing Clerk is familiar with components of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural supplies and other hardware to support the technicians on site.

Salary

$16.76/hr.

Key Responsibilities

• Purchasing, monitoring supplies and inventory, research and ordering
• Maintain files and records so they remain updated and easily accessible
• Monitor stocks of inventory, supplies (paper clips, stationery etc.)
  • report when there are shortages
• Communication skills
  • direct personal, written, or telephone contact
• Perform other office duties as assigned

Essential Skills

• Understand the operation of ordering parts and inventory
• Understand technical instructions and directions from vendors and technicians
  • HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry.
• Proficient in the utilization of Costpoint distribution of information
• Proficient with office equipment and procedures
  • photocopier, printers etc.
  • computers for word processing, spreadsheet creation
• Responsible and detailed
• Establish priorities to ensure completion of tasks in timely manner

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Each complete year of accredited college education in a related field may be substituted for the equivalent number of years of the required experience

• Regular, dependable attendance
• Valid drivers license
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• U.S. citizenship to Obtain and maintain access to military installations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HVAC, Carpentry and Electrical and plumbing equipment
• Costpoint experience
• Microsoft and internet skills
