We are looking for a full-time Junior to mid-level SDET to support firmware developers with your test-automation and scripting expertise. You will be developing test plans and code to exercise the embedded software as well as the integration with hardware. You will be working in a Linux environment with application-level ARM processors. You will enable quicker and smarter test cycles over time and increase the stability of new products, speed and accuracy, and even ensure potential safety for real customers.

Your opinions and your ideas can make a difference, helping to shape the future of DCI and the HDD industry. You will think globally across similar projects, creating production-level automated test suite code, and collaborating with all team members to ship products.

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science, EE, or related discipline from an accredited university
  • 2+ years of embedded development/testing experience
  • Passionate about embedded testing with the key ability to think critically to identify breaking issues.
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience automating embedded applications on Linux.
  • Familiarity with serial busses such as UART and simulating custom protocols for black box testing
  • Familiarity with reading schematics
  • Proven ownership of test projects/features, designing test documentation, regressing bugs, and executing test passes
  • Willingness to work on a team and can work in a fluid, highly collaborative environment
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills

Ideal Additional Skills

  • Experience automating embedded user interfaces on Qt is desired
  • Experience with Bash shell scripting a plus
  • Experience with reading C++ a bonus
  • Experience with using an oscilloscope and serial analyzers a plus
  • Experience with Jenkins Continuous Integration a plus
  • JIRA or similar issue tracking software a plus
  • TestRail or similar test case tracking software a plus
  • Agile team experience a plus
  • Time-estimation skills for setting management expectations are strongly desired

Experience

Candidate is expected to have a B.S. degree in Computer Science, EE, or related discipline from an accredited university plus at least 2 years of embedded testing experience. It is strongly desired that candidate can demonstrate a passion for Quality Assurance and testing automation with real-world project citations.

Compensation:

  • DCI is proud to offer comprehensive compensation packages including competitive base pay and discretionary quarterly profit-sharing bonuses to all part-time and full-time team members. Base pay is reviewed at a minimum on an annual basis.
  • Pay range: $75,500 - $88,100 per year. Factors considered for pay include the level of skill, experience, training, external market factors, and internal value.
  • Profit sharing bonus: Over the last 3 years, quarterly bonuses ranged between 12% and 27%. Future bonuses could be higher or lower depending on company profits.

Hybrid Work Schedule:

The position requires schedule flexibility to meet deadlines and the ability to positively motivate others to achieve aggressive goals. It may also require some travel (less than 25%) including to international locations. This position has a primary work location at the Kent, WA location.
