POSITION SUMMARY



The Quality Control Welding Inspector is responsible for performing daily inspections of fabricated products, including but not limited to modular buildings and solar skids, to ensure compliance to drawings and specifications in a timely fashion.  Position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, the following:



 



KEY FUNCTIONS




  • Perform daily quality assurance inspections of welded products as required by QC checklists, drawings and specifications

  • Verify fit up and layout of products meet drawing specifications

  • Complete internal checklists properly for inspections completed

  • Complete NDT (Magnetic Particle) inspections of lifting lugs and visual inspection of all welds

  • Participate in testing of welders seeking employment with Module X Solutions

  • Perform general inspections of shelters, skids and containers as needed, either independently or as an inspection team member

  • Clearly document product deficiencies and follow-up with production to ensure deficiencies are corrected

  • Employee must exhibit a good attendance record



 



 



REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Certifications, And Other Skills)




  • High School Diploma/GED, Tech or Trade School completion preferred.

  • 1+ years’ experience in a metal fabrication or inspection related job. 

  • Welding Inspectors must have a good understanding of welding standards such as AWS D1.1.

  • NDT Level II VT and MT and/or CWI certification is required

  • Training in Welding Technology is desired

  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing inspection processes

  • Experience providing quality assurance and quality control on projects is desired

  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Self-motivated and works well with or without supervision.

  • Good organizational skills and a methodical approach to work.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Detailed oriented, able to read and interpret drawings, BOMs, options, shop details, etc.

  • Must be able to accurately read a tape measure

  • Must have a good attendance record and have a strong sense of personal responsibility.

  • Personal computer skills required.

  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check

  • Ability to work safely



 



 



PHYSICAL DEMANDS




  • Ability to stand; sit; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate testing instruments, tools, computers and various pieces of office equipment.



 



WORK ENVIRONMENT



While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights.  The noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary.
