Overview:

  • Conducts basic dimensional measurements, visual inspections, and testing on incoming parts and assemblies and/or outgoing products to establish documents and procedures to ensure all are within designated specification. Documents results and maintains records.
  • Tracks and reports non-conformities according to procedures. Audits inspection, production activities and reports on results.

General description:

  • Completes inspection of components per engineering specifications. Documents inspections, issues and non-conformances, per established protocols.
  • Performs duties using standard quality practices, procedures and standard work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensures that incoming materials conform to purchase specifications.
  • Completes inspection of components per engineering specifications.
  • Documents inspection on appropriate inspection reports.
  • Chooses appropriate gauges to complete the inspection tasks.
  • Adds and removes components from the inspection list as appropriate based on established inspection rules.
  • Documents any non-conformances in the QSI database and assists with investigation and disposition.
  • Back-up support for the manufacturing floor, as required.
  • This may include inspecting and signing off on Specials, troubleshooting issues, auditing shipments and inspecting inventory as issues arise.
  • Conducts procedure, process, product and documentation audits per schedule.
  • Documents and completes follow-up of issues.
  • Assists in developing the audit schedule.
  • Backs-up the Senior Quality Technician for floor issues and first article inspections as required based on the priority of manufacturing, engineering and supply chain.
  • Reviews engineering and manufacturing documentation to ensure clarity, and complete compliance with requirements, documents discrepancies and forwards to appropriate personnel for action.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and Lean initiatives.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Some technical school and/or gage use coursework preferred.
  • Certified Quality Technician preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a component part inspector in a manufacturing environment.
  • Formal internal audit experience.

SKILLS:

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication, computer and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must be proficient in basic measurement tools and devices.
  • Must be able to read a Bill of Materials and Engineering drawings.
