Quality Technician 2 

South Milwaukee, WI

The main function of a quality technician is to inspect and test processed, machined, fabricated or assembled parts or products for defect, wear, and deviations from specifications. Job Responsibilities: Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications. Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required. Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, and work for conformance to specifications. Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, or moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded. Mark items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status. Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers. Analyze test data and make computations as necessary to determine test results. 



Skills: 

Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. 



Education/Experience: 

Associate's degree or equivalent experience/training required. 3-4 years experience required.



Candidate Responsibilities          

 Candidate will be individual contributor with a potential for working with operations/quality engineering/manufacturing engineering when there is a problem.



Typical Day         

Individual will be doing inspections on gear measurement machine. Individual will also be on shop floor and in an office setting. 2:30PM-11:00PM Monday -Friday shift with unpaid 30 minute break.



Education Requirement 

High school diploma or GED 2+ years experience with gear checking/measurements, operating/programming Gear measuring machine (GMM) Preferably Gleason 3000 or equivalent required.



Technical Skills Required               

2-4 years experience. Must be able to perform inspections utilizing coordinate measuring technology, including programming and operating a Gleason 3000 gear measurement machine (GMM) or equivalent. •Must interpret results, create and read K-Charts, and provide recommendations to Operations, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering if non-conforming. Must possess strong knowledge with GD&T and Blueprint reading(link removed) Prefer candidates with at least basic knowledge of SAP/ERP systems, as well as documentation and follow up of non-conformities. Independent self-starter capable of working with little supervision and capacity to communicate turnover, problems, and priorities through e mail to the team.
