RCTab is a federally certified, field-tested, open-source app that tallies RCV elections. It fills a critical gap in many election systems, enabling RCV tabulation that would otherwise be impossible or prohibitively expensive. As RCV grows in popularity, more and more jurisdictions are using RCTab as part of their RCV implementation. The role of the RCTab Program Manager is to support jurisdictions as they use RCTab and to drive the development of RCTab for the needs of future jurisdictions. This involves identifying what key program features, documentation, and certifications are needed for each jurisdiction interested in using RCTab, translating those requirements into specific tasks for our team of volunteer and contract programmers, and overseeing the development and testing of those components. This position is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who enjoys challenging work within a small team where you can make a great impact. This is a full-time, remote position with occasional in-person meetings and travel. The RCTab Program Manager reports directly to the Executive Director. Requirements Key Responsibilities - Drive development of RCTab software
- Serve as a liaison between stakeholders (staff, developers, client jurisdictions, test labs, etc.) to identify, define, prioritize, and track work
- Create and maintain technical documentation for RCTab as required for certification, testing, education, etc.
- Coordinate testing by certified federal and state test centers where required by client jurisdictions
- Provide training, education, and technical support for client jurisdictions during elections
- Recruit and coordinate volunteer programmers
Job Requirements and Preferred Skills - Bachelor's degree in project management, computer science, business administration or a related field
- Proficiency in Java and GitHub as well as Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.), including knowledge of general software programs
- Experience in delivering technical presentations to various audiences
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical skills with the ability to engage subject matter experts selectively and effectively
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills with the ability to convey important information clearly and effectively
- Capable of working with all relevant disciplines and staff located across locations/time zones
- Self-motivated with the ability to drive challenging projects to effectively in a fast-paced environment
