Spartech, LLC is looking for an entry-to-junior level R&D Chemist to join our Technology Team in Stamford, CT. Headquartered in Maryland Heights, Missouri, Spartech has over a dozen locations throughout the United States. We have a broad customer base with extensive product offerings and technologies. Many of our materials are used in products you might see every day for example if you start your morning with a single serve yogurt, the container you ate from may be made from one of Spartechs products or the refrigerator where the yogurt was stored could have Spartech products in its interior features. More unique uses of our products can be seen in military or security applications for example in fighter jet canopies or bullet resistant windows. General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for designing and conducting experiments toward the development or improvement of custom polymer products. Responsible for developing a testing plan, procedures, data analysis, and presentation of results in a way that leads to action.

• Develops with guidance adhering to customer specifications, quality, and operational goals and standards.
• Actively participates in materials testing to facilitate scale up to production.
• Contributes to product platform development through application of statistical experimental design, product testing, and data analysis.
• Identifies material and other functional specifications to meet customer requirements.
• Supports marketing and sales through development of product and application data.
• Serves as technical resource for manufacturing, for process improvement, trouble shooting and to establish quality and testing conditions for new materials

Requirements

Desired Experience & Education

• Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (organic or polymer) or Chemical Engineering or significant work experience directly relevant to the position.
• Acrylics experience with ability to operate independently is a significant plus.
• Key competencies: work independently, be customer centric, collaborative, strong communicator, possess advanced critical thinking & problem solving skills and be a team player.
