R&D Technician I Bomar

We seek a results-focused, innovative, customer-centric well-qualified individual for our R&D Technician role, based out of Torrington CT. You will conduct laboratory synthesis and testing experiments on developmental products by following formulation and curing instructions provided by R&D Chemists. Also, you will operate testing instruments to characterize the physio-mechanical properties of work products. In addition, you will:

  • Perform new oligomer product synthesis and formulation preparation by following batch recipes and procedures and utilizing laboratory mixing and temperature controlling equipment
  • Prepare specimens for physio-mechanical property testing by using appropriate specimen molds or coating application methods and curing specimens with light-curing equipment as directed by SOPs
  • Characterize the properties of new formulations by operating analytical and mechanical testing instrumentation with associated computer software according to established work instructions
  • Record and maintain experiment trial and test results by accurately keeping and updating laboratory notebooks as required by company policies
  • Report experiment progress and results by providing timely communication of experimental test data, both verbally and in writing, to R&D Chemists or Project Leads
  • Ensure the availability of supplies needed to perform experiments and testing by monitoring laboratory supply and chemical stocks and replenishing as needed to complete work within requested timeframes

Requirements

Ideally, you will have:

  • High School Diploma with 2+ years experience in a lab or chemical processing work environment -or -
  • Associates Degree including at least 1 year science laboratory coursework
  • Solid knowledge and experience working with MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Detail orientation, strong time-management, observation and analytical skills
  • Experience in UV-curing adhesives/coatings preferred
