Title: RN - Oncology

Job Description:
Pediatric experience strongly preferred. The pediatric oncology nurse-a highly specialized and sensitive role-delivers care to those pediatric patients who are receiving cancer treatment.
Specific responsibilities include preparing patients for chemotherapy, administering palliative treatment, and collaborating with other members of the health care team.
Patients are admitted with a new diagnosis of any type of cancer and readmitted for ongoing therapy and treatment of side effects.
Patients with metabolic and genetic disorders, in addition to patients with cancer, are admitted for allogeneic bone marrow, autologous bone marrow and stem cell transplants.The Bass Center APU provides housing for our procedures utilizing general anesthesia as well as minimal to moderate sedation.
Responsibilities:
Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
Supervises nursing staff on a shift and ensures safe and effective nursing care is provided to assigned patients.
Assists in determining work assignments based on nursing resources and identified patient care needs.
Requirements:
Active California Nursing License
A nursing degree from an accredited nursing program
Current BLS and/or ACLS and/or Specialty Certifications
Knowledge of state and federal regulations
2 -3 years of Acute care experience required
