Overview



One of our top tier clients in Kerrville, TX, USA is currently seeking for a RN- Mental Health to join their team for an ongoing assignment.



Job Requirements:

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas or state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact or possess a temporary permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas, or a Graduate Nurse from an accredited RN program with a valid permit to practice in the State of Texas while awaiting licensure.

1. Extensive knowledge of nursing procedures and practices.

2. Extensive knowledge of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Rules and Regulation of the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.

3. Ability to provide population-specific, evidence-based nursing care at the proficient or expert level to an assigned patient population.

4. Ability to perform an extensive assessment of the patients nursing care needs to include medical, psychological, and social needs.

5. Ability to formulate population-specific nursing diagnoses for the assigned patient population.

6. Knowledge of leadership or management principles as they apply to the unit or hospital setting.



What you need to know:



The Staff Nurse I performs complex nursing work at the proficient or expert level in a state mental health hospital. Works with limited supervision from the Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager and has considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Acts as Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Nurse Manager in his/her absence when necessary. Provides clinical supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses and Mental Health Workers. Organizes, establishes, and maintains unit routines and the therapeutic milieu. Coaches and teaches subordinate staff in the provision of population- specific nursing care and treatment. Supervises the administration of or administers medications in compliance with facility policies and procedures. Conducts extensive assessments of the patients' nursing care needs including initial and ongoing assessments. Develops, implements, or supervises the implementation of population-specific nursing interventions based on acceptable nursing standard of care and relevant evidence. Acts as a nursing team leader in collecting patient data and contributing appropriate information to the formulation of the patient's interdisciplinary treatment plan. Must understand that duties, location of work pattern are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital. Must understand that duties may include exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material.

8-hour shift varies (including weekends):

1st shift – 6:30am – 3:00pm

2nd shift – 2:30pm – 11:00pm

3rd shift – 10:30pm – 7:00am
