Recruits and assists job seekers in applying for appropriate positions. Screens applications for minimum qualifications, identifying the most qualified candidates. Confers with hiring managers regarding recruitment timelines, examination steps, and special requirements. Coordinates regular communication with applicants and hiring managers. Ensures compliance with merit system law, bargaining unit agreements and the rules and regulations of the Personnel Commission.
The ideal candidate has human resources experience along with excellent customer service skills, high level of organization and attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Suite and the ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures.
This position is full-time, in-person, and has a work year of 12 months, 261 days, 8 hours per day.

Education and Experience
Classified Personnel Specialist I:
Any combination equivalent to:
- Education: College-level coursework in human resources, public administration or a related field is highly desirable AND
- Experience: one year clerical/technical experience related to human resources or personnel management. Experience must include maintaining computerized records.
Classified Personnel Specialist II:
Any combination equivalent to:
- Education: College-level coursework in human resources, public administration or a related field may be considered as partial fulfillment of the work experience requirement AND
- Experience: three years human resources clerical/technical experience related to recruitment, selection, employment or operations. Experience must include maintaining computerized records, and interpreting and applying complex laws, rules and regulations. Experience providing technical leadership is desirable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURES
- Assessments and interviews will take place virtually via Zoom Meetings.
- Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
- The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for January 11, 2024.
- Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an in-basket examination, tentatively scheduled for January 18, 2024.
- Those who pass the in-basket exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for January 25, 2024.
- Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
- Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for the week of January 29, 2024.
- Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their (link removed) applications, or as updated by candidates in their (link removed) master profiles. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily.
