POSITION SUMMARY



The position encompasses receiving of patients and coordinating with the manager/ physician offices, assist with the ACC database management, compile reports requested by Director or Manager of Heart and Vascular Center, provide input to develop Heart and Vascular Center dashboard, provide input for quality and safety of HVC patients, function as "core" staff to perform procedures, help manage inventory of supplies, assist manager with reconciliation of charges/billing. The HVC Tech will assist in establishing departmental goals and objectives that ensure high quality, cost-effective patient care, while working collaboratively to integrate the goals of the HVC with Huntsville Memorial Hospital. The philosophy of continuous quality improvement (CQI) is integrated by the HVC Tech into all ongoing operations and activities of the department.



The Registered Cath Lab Techologist (RTR) functions as a member of the heart and vascular team. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the adolescent, adult and geriatric population.



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



License/Registration/Certification:

ARRT-American Registry of Radiologic Technologist

Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) through the Texas Medical Board

Current BLS course completion certificate required at time of hire.

Current ACLS course completion certificate required at time of hire.



Minimum Education and Training:

Associates degree of Applied Sciences in Medical Radiologic Technology



Minimum Work Experience:

One (1) years recent clinical experience in area of Cardiac and Peripheral Vascular Interventions or Radiology, RRT, expertise.



Skills:

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Clinically competent in areas of responsibility.

Radiation Safety Awareness (ALARA)

Assist Supervisor to assure adequate staffing levels for shift.

Assist in development and implementation of programs for the recruitment and retention of qualified, competent staff.

Identifies issues and trends within Heart and Vascular Services and participates in and develops strategic planning as it involves his/her unit.

Continually re-evaluates the patient care system to ensure high quality care delivery.

Anticipates and takes proper action in emergency situations.

Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to changes caused by emergencies, schedule or staffing adjustments, procedural changes, or patient care needs.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Lifting & Carrying - May be expected to lift 50 - 150 lb with assistance throughout shift.

Pushing & Pulling - May be expected to push or pull 150 - 300 lb with assistance on occasion

Standing & Walking - Will likely be on his/her feet the majority of the shift to perform the essential functions of this job. Employee's activities will be conducted over linoleum and carpeted floor.

Bending & Stooping - May be expected to bend and stoop frequently

Body Mechanics - Will be expected to use proper body mechanics at all times.

Hand Use - Manual dexterity is essential to perform designated duties. Both fine and gross motor skills are required. Working speed may be crucial.

Visual Acuity - Acuity near and far is used in all duties. Color vision is necessary in distinguishing colors in all duties.

Talking/Hearing - Used constantly in all duties in person, phone and in groups. Must be able to hear high and low pitch tones



ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS



Blood-borne Pathogens: Will be regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases and body substances.
