Minimum Qualifications

Permanent: Permanent service as a SG-18 or higher and otherwise eligible to transfer.

Provisional: must possess a current license and registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State and two years of registered nursing experience in the following areas: rehabilitation, medical/surgical, public health, community health, visiting nursing, occupational health, utilization review, or review of medical records from hospitals for appropriate ICD 9 or 10/DRG/PAS/CPT coding.

Duties Description

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Review claimants treatment plans to ensure services are allowable and casually related to the crime.
  • Review requests for home modifications and vehicle modifications.
  • Review requests from claimants for high-cost medical equipment and work with vendors to attain reasonable and customary costs.
  • Review invoices, maintain documentation, and reimburse costs associated with homecare services for victims.
  • Assist OVS personnel in interpreting medical bills and records.
  • Review medical bills, reports, and claimant requests to ensure appropriateness to injuries sustained from a crime.
  • Review requests for educational assistance for job retraining.
  • Assist the Senior Managers of the Rehabilitation Services Unit in developing and implementing unit policies.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with community resources to assist victims in achieving pre-injury status or maximum potential.
