REGISTERED NURSE (RN) - ORTHOPEDICS

Bismarck, ND, 58501




Department/Unit:  Orthopedics/Joint Replacement



Contract Assignments: 13 + weeks



Shift schedules and requirement:  




  •  Day/Night Rotating.

  • 12 HR D/N; 36 HR/Week; Every Other/3rd Weekend.

  • Will never work alone.  

  • No call required.  




Floating to over units/departments:


  • Med/Surg




Education:  


  • Associate degree. 

  • BSN is preferred.




License:


  • Active ND State RN or Compact license required.


Certifications:


  • AHA - BLS


Experience & Skills Requirement: 


  • Preferrably at least 1 year of  nursing experience.

  • Ortho/ Joint Replacement/Med Surg experience.

  • Epic experience

  • Willing to float to other Med Surg units

  • Willing to work rotating shifts




General job duties.:


  • Caring for patients in Orthopedic unit/Joint Replacement Center.  

  • Administer meds, assess, monitor, education, work with C.N.A.'s to provide all cares needed.  We have a very specific and unique Joint Replacement Program, where we have an Ortho Nurse Navigator who would help educate the travel nurse on specifics of care of these patients.  

  • We also do care for many trauma patients and fractures, and also are the Kidney Transplant unit.  

  • Unit can be diverse, but is very fun unit with amazing staff.




Equipment utilized in the unit/dept: 


  • Computerized EMR - McKesson currently, switching to EPIC end of march.




Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept:


  • 20




Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)


  • usually 4:1, sometimes 5




Dress Code:


  • Navy Scrubs, Navy jacket if desired




Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program:


  • We would want to orientate the traveller for at least one 12-hour shift, and provide training on the EMR if not already familiar with.  Ortho Nurse Navigator would educate re: joint patients.

  • Traveler would not need to care for kidney transplant patients if no prior experience in this field.
