The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and implement a compliance training program to educate employees on insurance operations, good corporate governance, OFAC, FCPA, conflicts of interest, Federal and State filings, data, and other compliance program tenets
  • Develop and review compliance framework, including policies and procedures relating to compliance with specific emphasis on Insurance Operations, Marketing, and general corporate compliance both domestically and internationally(link removed)>
  • Ensure the company adheres to relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including licensing, producer appointments, reporting requirements, and surplus lines taxes.
  • Work with the Insurance Ops team to ensure insurance operations build out and maintain following state-specific insurance requirements.
  • Monitor operational processes through the use of audits, educational opportunities, and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure proper procedures and documentation of the investigatory process, findings, summary, recommendations, and action plan/resolution. Log tracking and reporting of calls or reports to Compliance.
  • Monitor developments/changes in laws and regulations affecting the company. Communicate and advise management regarding these changes and the need for modification of policies or procedures.


Compensation:

The Expected base pay for the role will be between 140K-170K per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonus and other Cover Whale-sponsored total rewards/benefits.

Please note: This is an on-site role with the requirement to be in the office at least 4 times per week

Requirements

  • 5-7 years experience as a compliance professional in the field of Property & Casualty or Specialty Lines insurance
  • Experience building a corporate compliance program from scratch including drafting, socializing, implementing, and maintenance of the program.
  • Common sense approach to compliance issues balancing compliance with company operational success.
  • Ability to work well within a team setting, use a common sense approach to risk management, and ability to influence business leaders and stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Relevant industry certifications, such as the Associate in Insurance Compliance (AIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
