United Dental Corp (UDC) is a rapidly growing Dental Support Organization (DSO) focused on acquiring independent dental practices in strategic markets in the US. The Company is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee our accounting departments daily operations.

You will be responsible for financial reporting and other monthly reporting requirements, such as maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable reconciliation, month-end close, payroll, and tax filings. This role offers considerable growth potential as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to prepare for and participate in the rapid growth of the company.

You will also collaborate with UDCs M&A, Human Resources, and Operations teams on strategic projects. The successful candidate will have rigorous attention to detail, strong communication skills, be proactive in seeking solutions, work independently, and deliver results in a timely fashion. The role will be based in the greater Nashville area and will work remotely most of the time while meeting up occasionally with accounting team also located in the greater Nashville Metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Accurately prepare, document, reconcile and coordinate bi-weekly and ad hoc payrolls with PEO vendor. Assists in responding to and resolving payroll inquiries with vendor and employees.
  • Lead and assist in daily reconciliations across dental practices.
  • Assist with monthly updates for Fixed Assets, ensuring accurate and timely recording of additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses as required.
  • Conduct ad-hoc reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial data and identify any discrepancies or irregularities that require resolution.
  • Cross-train with accounting department members to cover other tasks when/as needed.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of financial transactions and records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and alignment regarding financial processes and requirements.
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve Junior Accountants entries and reconciliations.
  • Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department.
  • Maintains cash flow by monitoring bank balances and cash requirements, resource planning.
  • Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives.
  • Establish accounting policies and procedures, aligned with companys targets.

Requirements

  • Supervision and team leadership skills.
  • Managing processes and ability to figure out problems and recommend solutions. Research skills.
  • Possesses strong communication skills with a client-based approach to written and verbal communications.
  • Reconciliation and month-end closing process experience.
  • Knowledge for Statement of Financial Accounting Standards.
  • Solid Excel knowledge, Sage experience a plus.
  • Bachelors or masters degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA, CMA or candidate.
  • Minimum five years experience in accounting/finance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements and monthly closing processes.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Interest and desire to improve or reconstruct workstreams to maximize efficiency and leverage various technology and integration opportunities across general ledger, invoicing, and other systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work independently while maintaining intense attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable with change and ambiguity, can adapt and adjust as needed.
