The Asset Protection Division of Protective Life Corporation has been providing F&I solutions for the automotive industry since 1962. We proudly serve thousands of dealerships in the automotive, RV, powersports and marine industries by providing innovative F&I products, training and technology.

The Legal Department has an opening for an Associate Counsel to provide legal support to the companys Asset Protection Division. The Associate Counsel will work as part of a larger team, helping to direct the efforts of other team members.

Location: St. Louis office (Chesterfield, Missouri) preferred, will consider remote for industry-experienced candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and/or negotiate agreements and other legal documents that support APDs business with auto dealerships, financial institutions, agents and lenders.
  • Participate in the management, preparation of documentation and legal strategies for litigation.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to internal business clients on a range of issues such as insurance, warranty, finance and corporate laws.
  • Participate in legal due diligence. Provide analysis and assessments of due diligence findings and participate in integration of acquired companies/programs.
  • Collaborate with others effectively across Protectives businesses, establishing and maintaining productive working relationships to deliver results.

Qualifications:

  • Attorney with 5-7 years experience working in-house or for a law firm, or other equivalent employer. Corporate transactional practice and experience with F&I products strongly preferred
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Self-starter and independent learner
  • The candidate must have excellent attention to detail and couple those abilities with an attitude of building positive experiences and relationships.
  • Law degree from ABA accredited law school
  • Currently admitted to a state bar and in good standing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite
Protectives targeted salary range for this position is $89,500 to $137,400. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protectives total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance].
