Development Manager, Theatre of Western Springs

Job Summary:

The TWS Development Manager (DM) manages all aspects of the Theatre of Western Springs fundraising efforts. This is the first staff development position in TWS history, so this is a tremendous opportunity to build a sustainability plan that celebrates and builds upon the organization's 95-year history. The Development Manager works closely with TWS staff, the Board of Governors, membership, Childrens Theatre families, and donors, and reports to the TWS Executive Artistic Director (EAD). The starting salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000 per year, dependent upon experience.

General Schedule:

This is a full-time exempt position. Hours are typically standard business hours (M-F) 9-5 with flexibility required for meetings and events scheduled outside these hours, as needed. This is a hybrid position with three days per week in the office.

Job Duties Include:

Budget

  • Set the TWS development expense and income goals, in consultation with the EAD and Board of Governors.

Grants

  • Identify and apply for grants.
  • Complete grant reports.
  • Steward funder relationships.

Corporate Sponsorships

  • Identify and solicit corporate sponsorships.
  • Steward corporate partner relationships.

Events

  • Guide volunteer committee and oversee execution of annual gala.
  • Plan for and support other fundraising and friend raising events, as needed.

Major Gifts

  • Work with EAD to identify and solicit major donors for gifts $1,000 and greater.
  • Engage and steward individual donors through multiple touchpoints, including (but not limited to) events, communications, and donor benefits.

Communication

  • Maintain awareness of current trends in fundraising and philanthropy.
  • Work with Marketing Manager to develop Annual Reports and other fundraising communications and materials, as needed.
  • Lead solicitation campaigns (mail, email, or other), including developing content, working with graphic designer, and coordinating printing and mailing, in collaboration with Business Manager.
  • Oversee donor database management and donor acknowledgment process, in collaboration with Business Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Experience:

  • 2+ years of fundraising experience required, with successful grant experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency is required. CRM database experience preferred (TWS currently uses Arts People).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skill, and comfort with deadlines.
