Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Literacy and Inclusion, the Early Language and Literacy Network Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Identify best practices, trends and topics related to early language and literacy development in the early childhood classroom.
  • Train CCR&R Network in quality practices related to early language and literacy development in the early learning setting.
  • Supervise 15 Early Language and Literacy Coaches, including:
    • Providing guidance for coachs work with child care educators
    • Providing verbal and written feedback to coaches regarding their work through regular check in calls
    • Onboarding new coaches
    • Reviewing and approving timesheets
    • Analyzing individual and team data monthly to determine areas of strength and areas of needed improvement.
    • Assign tasks and follow up on progress.
    • Visiting each coach at least once per year to observe their work in the assigned service area.
    • Complete performance evaluation, yearly
  • Coordinate all meetings, conference calls and on-site visits for Early Language and Literacy Coaches.
  • Establish guidelines and procedures for Early Language and Literacy Coach positions.
  • Create tools and resources for child care agencies as well as parents and families.
  • Collaborate with CCDF Partners in activities surrounding quality early language and literacy in early education setting.
  • Attend and participate in Network Management meetings, CCDF Partner meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Support the development of Enhanced Quality Improvement Plans (EQIPs).
  • Review, analyze and interpret data.
  • Collaborate with applicable State agencies.
  • Positively market the CCR&R Network to the community.
  • Participate in CCR&R Network management meetings and relevant meetings called by DHS.
  • Participate in planning and program development meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.




Qualifications:

  • Must have Masters Degree from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Sciences or related field.
  • A minimum of five years experience in this or related field required.
  • Physical examination and record of negative TB test results must be on file with Signal Centers.
  • Must be a systems thinker who sees the broad picture and works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Dependable transportation, valid drivers license and insurance required.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work remotely from a home office.
  • Ability and willingness to travel statewide.
  • Ability to train adults using principles of adult learning.

Special skills/aptitudes:

  • The ability to serve as a liaison between Signal Centers, Inc., and the subcontracted Child Care Resource and Referral agencies.
  • The ability to maintain and share knowledge and understanding of early language and literacy practices and apply those within the structure of the Tennessee Child Care Resource & Referral Network agencies.
  • The ability to train adults using adult learning strategies and provide technical assistance.
