Job Description


The Compliance Governance and Reporting (CGR) team manages important components of Blocks Compliance Risk Management Framework and is part of the Global Policy and Governance (GPG) team within Block Compliance. The CGR team has responsibility for the following responsibilities: Policy Governance, Risk Assessment, Compliance Training, Compliance Risk Assessments, Third-party Risk Management, Issues Management, Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tooling, and Board Reporting.

As a Governance Risk & Compliance (GRC) Lead within the CGR team, you will lead the GRC Team that owns GRC programs. You will help grow and evolve the GRC Team by setting the strategy for the team, aligning partner teams globally, and leading important projects. You have expertise in several compliance and risk programs and have built and managed a GRC tool from the ground up for a global financial services company. You will establish standards and tools to allow scalability and growth of the function, and ensure a high-quality work product. You will build a cohesive team vision and culture, managing a small team of GRC analysts.

Our employment model is distributed, offering the opportunity to work with teams across the world. This role can be based in any of our US offices or remotely in the United States. Flexibility to travel and work across time zones is required.

You Will:

  • Lead Blocks GRC program, including development of the GRC strategy and being hands-on designing and configuring the relevant end-to-end systems, programs, and tools.

  • Lead the team to support the development and scalability of the program

  • Partner with Product Compliance, Compliance Testing, Operations, Audit/Exam teams, and other important partners to ensure successful adoption of our GRC tool and related programs across the company

  • Work with vendors for Blocks GRC tool implementation, related training, and ongoing support.

  • Analyze complex GRC topics from large amounts of data and provide essential messages to important audiences such as boards of directors, executives, and senior managers.

  • Work within a complex and evolving environment, to improve delivery of solutions while affecting cultural change.

  • Lead important projects with cross-functional impacts, from planning - by establishing goals, project plans, and deliverables - through execution, including the assignment of work across resources, evaluation of work quality, and senior management reporting on outcomes

  • Ensure the team develops standards and internal processes to guide quality data and management reporting

  • Support the GPG team with special projects supporting adjacent areas.


Qualifications


You Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in financial services compliance management within a matrixed or global organization with responsibilities for risk management and GRC systems and tools (i.e. Archer, ServiceNow, Protecht, OpenPages, etc.),

  • 8+ years of risk or compliance program management, with experience affecting technology decisions

  • In-depth knowledge of GRC component parts and inter-relationships between risks, controls, issues, actions and incidents

  • Expertise in a hands-on technical role, with understanding of important software implementation and integration processes including defining requirements, use of data analytics/visualization platforms (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc.), technology change management & governance processes, management information reporting systems

  • Experience developing risk management tools based on industry recognized ERM frameworks (e.g. COSO, ISO 31000)

  • Experience managing multiple complex and large-scale projects, delivering to established timeframes

  • 5+ years experience leading & developing teams; setting goals and working on long-term vision

  • Experience managing and engaging at the senior leadership level, and with regulators and external partners, inclusive of executive management reporting

  • Build relationships and credibility with business leads, external partners, and regulators through collaborative and independent programs

  • Industry certifications (e.g. CAMS, CRCM, CFE, CISA, CISSP)

  • Experience in FinTech

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidates starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $171,200 - USD $209,200
Zone C: USD $162,000 - USD $198,000
Zone D: USD $152,700 - USD $186,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
