Instructional Technologist

The Instructional Technologist facilitates technology-rich teaching and learning by providing evaluation and technical support related to the Institutes online learning management system for online, hybrid, and web-augmented courses. This includes support for academic courses, self-paced learning modules, audio/video components, and other training resources for faculty, staff, and students. Works collaboratively with the curriculum team to evaluate, plan and build instructional content into the proprietary LMS.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for all online learning management system instructional initiatives to improve learning outcomes, facilitate technology-rich teaching and advance curricular innovation;
  • Assists in enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational technology innovations into the curriculum;
  • Contributes within a team of Technologists in the planning, building, and constant evaluation of curriculum in the proprietary LMS;
  • Evaluates learning content for user experience in terms of LMS functionality;
  • Builds and maintains relationships with clients to understand and deliver content that meets the expectations of each customer;
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with subject matter experts to assist with the continuous evaluation and improvement of course performance in the proprietary LMS;
  • Examines the performance of the proprietary system to offer ideas and creative solutions for content delivery;
  • Monitors team sprints to ensure projects are completed efficiently and documented for future evaluation;
  • Evaluates relevant emerging technologies that have potential value for teaching and learning;
  • Participates in quarterly advisory board meetings;
  • Promotes positive teamwork within the education department and provides exceptional customer service to students, staff, and partner organizations;
  • Communicates effectively in written and oral communication;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in related field;
  • Must have experience with at least one LMS; Experience with multiple learning management systems including proprietary systems is preferred;
  • Experience scoping large engagements, with development of project plans is required;
  • Proven ability to build strong relationship across stakeholder groups is required;
