Description

RFP for Right To Be Retreat Facilitator

Background

Right To Be RTB is a global, people-powered movement to build a world that is free of harassment and filled with humanity. We believe that its through small actions, happening everywhere, that culture can shift. Our work focuses on turning the care we have for each other into simple, creative, effective action. Every day, we train hundreds of people to respond to, intervene in, and heal from harassment. We hold space for people experiencing harassment to share their stories for affirmation and support. And we prepare new leaders to create workplaces, schools, and communities around the world that are filled with humanity. So that we can all be who we are, wherever we are.

We are seeking an experienced facilitator to assist our planning group in designing and leading an engaging, productive, and fun two-day, virtual retreat in February 2024 for our staff.

Retreat Goals

The theme of our RTB retreat is Building Connection, Culture, and Community.

We are looking for a facilitator to lead (2) days of the retreat. This will include helping us move through new changes and create sustainable practices for building and maintaining connection, culture, community. For us this means building trust, relationships, and commitment among all RTB colleagues. It means forging dynamic working relationships between individuals and cultivating and strengthening cross-team bonds while also having fun together!

At RTB, we have a strong desire to increase our ability to build strong connections in our remote environment, to align our mission-driven work with our culture, and to empower our teams to move through challenges and conflict in a generative manner. We are a community of facilitators, creative thinkers, problem solvers, and innovative thought leaders. And we want to continue working to leverage the skills and talents of our team in a way that is collaborative and authentic.

Our goal is that the retreat will reinforce and support these efforts.

Scope of Work

We Seek a Consultant Who Will

  • Lead design of the retreat programming in collaboration with a committee of RTB staff. This includes helping us transform our broad goals into concrete outcomes.
  • Meet with the retreat committee to learn about RTB goals and vision for the retreat and solicit feedback during agenda development.
  • Draft, refine, and finalize the retreat agenda.
  • Facilitate sessions throughout the retreat.
  • Produce a report after the retreat with key lessons and outcomes emerging from the retreat and recommendations for next steps.
  • Share all documentation and notes that resulted from the planning and execution of the meeting.

We expect this project to take approximately 60 hours total (inclusive of facilitation and other work).

Criteria for selection

The planning group will consider the following experience and skills when selecting a facilitator(s) for this project:

  • Demonstrated excellence in providing planning and virtual facilitation for community-building meetings. Proven record in achieving stated goals and producing deliverables.
  • Strong intersectional analysis rooted in equity, justice, and liberation and a demonstrated skill navigating complex dynamics around identity.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven track record of building strong relationships between and within teams.
  • Demonstrated experience leading hard conversations in a way that recognizes power and minimizes harm.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a values-driven organization.

Project Timeline

Work will start approximately 1 month prior to the retreat (January 9th) and continue through a week post-retreat. The pre-retreat phase may include meeting with the planning committee, meeting with our Executive team, and agenda drafting. The post-retreat process may include collecting and synthesizing participant feedback. The confirmed dates for the retreat are February 12-13, 2024, from 11 AM- 5 PM ET.

Budget and Proposal Submission

Interested consultants should submit a proposal including the following materials by 6 PM EST, Friday, December 29th, 2023. Our budget range for this facilitation project is $7,500 to $9,500, but are open to breaking the scope into separate sections if we find consultants who specialize in those sections and arent appropriate to carry out the entirety of the project.

Proposals should be emailed to Advocate, our Director of HR & Operations at advocate@righttobe.org. We will then invite certain consultants to interview before we make a decision and move into refining the scope and contracting.
