DOFs core activities are vessel ownership, vessel management, project management, engineering, vessel operations, survey, remote intervention, and diving operations. DOF offers a full spectrum of top-quality offshore services to facilitate an ever-growing and demanding energy industry.

The companys main operation centers and business units are located in Norway, UK, USA, Singapore, Brazil, Argentina, Guyana, Canada, Angola, and Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor operations throughout the North America Region to ensure tax risks are identified, managed and/or mitigated.
  • Review operations and contract structures to achieve optimal tax outcomes.
  • Management and control of tax compliance obligations in the North America Region. This includes:
    • Corporate tax, including withholding taxes
    • VAT
    • Employment tax
    • Benefits Tax
    • Other indirect taxes
    • US Federal and State taxes

Relevant jurisdictions include but are not limited to: USA, Canada, Guyana, and other Caricom areas.

  • Maintain the North America tax risk management documents and ensure these are updated as required, including testing compliance with policy positions. This documentation includes the Board Tax Risk Management Policy, Tax Risk Management Framework and Risk Register.
  • Ensure transfer pricing documentation and filing requirements are met across the Region.
  • Provide taxation advice to the Commercial / Business Acquisition Team to optimise pricing for bids
  • Keep up to date with changes in taxation requirements across the Region to assess the impact on the Group.
  • Manage tax controversy matters including queries, risk reviews and audits initiated by tax authorities. Where necessary the matter may be escalated to the Group General Counsel.
  • Manage the employment tax obligations in project locations throughout the North America Region to ensure compliance with local requirements.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, including management of tax fees
  • Conduct tax training sessions to keep non-tax teams informed of relevant tax matters.
  • Co-ordinate with Tax Teams across all regions on cross-border and international tax issues to ensure optimal outcomes for the Group.

DUTIES/TASKS

Task can include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategic business partner, working with the Commercial and Contracts Teams to review tender documents to advise on tax implications, and input to pricing on bids
  • Provide tax input into contractual documents, including client agreements and chartering arrangements to ensure tax outcomes are understood and risks mitigated to the maximum extent possible
  • Responsible for submission of tax returns for Group entities with filing obligations in the North America Region, including Corporate tax returns, WHT compliance, Value Added Tax returns, and Benefits Tax Returns.
  • Responsible for managing North Americas employee tax exposures, and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Maintain the North America tax risk register and prepare reports on tax risks for inclusion in quarterly North America and Global Board reporting packs
  • Draft position papers to support tax positions adopted in accordance with tax risk management policies
  • Ensure compliance with both federal and state tax reporting requirements
  • Assist Finance Teams with financial statements statutory tax reporting disclosures, including review of tax effect accounting entries
  • Prepare and / or review Transfer Pricing disclosures and documentation for all filing locations within the North America region to ensure compliance with local requirements.
  • Ensure project related communication on employment tax matters is completed on a timely basis, including advising employees on local income tax withholding requirements
  • Keep up to date with tax technical developments affecting the North America region by attending tax conferences, technical advisor training and professional body updates
  • Advise Senior Management on the tax implications of the changes in regional tax laws, new transactions, and changes in contractual or entity structures
  • Prepare for and present at tax technical training sessions for non-tax teams as required
  • Assist the Legal and Company Secretarial functions with entity liquidations
  • Any other work required of the role as requested by the EVP, VP Finance or Group General Counsel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Preferred but not mandatory)

Education (Experience can compensate for lack of formally proven competence)

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Law
  • CPA/CA/CTA

Experience

6-10 years experience in a large Professional Taxation advisory or a similar commercial role.

Understanding of Transfer Pricing compliance requirements, including Country-by-Country Reporting

Management of tax controversy matters

Demonstrated experience of international taxation issues
