Next Phase Solutions and Services, Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer/Architect who can implement strong development practices within an Agile team. The emphasis will be on designing, creating reusable code, and ensuring testability, stability, reliability, and application performance. Collaboration with DevOps, QA, and other technical leads is essential to ensure optimal technical input for enhancements. Hands-on development is required to meet project/program requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development and provide technical guidance.
  • Provide a comprehensive definition of development, including technology, workflow appropriateness, and coding standards.
  • Guide and assist development teams by offering architectural blueprints to follow.
  • Monitor the development team's progress to ensure it aligns with the original design
  • As part of your job, you will need to research, design and develop interfaces for both product hardware and software. You will use engineering and design principles to ensure that the interfaces are effective and efficient
  • Transform complex business problems into practical technical solutions.
  • As part of a cross-functional Agile team, collaborate to create and improve software for cutting-edge client connectivity platform development.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to build custom systems for clients.
  • Use extensive knowledge in your field and a basic understanding of others to solve problems.
  • Integrate application development knowledge with overall technology goals.
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across departments and communicate with external parties as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum eight (8) to twelve (12) years of experience in full-stack Java 1.8+ development, installation, and maintenance.
  • Exhibits a strong understanding of architectural principles and fundamental knowledge in associated areas.
  • Create and launch web applications within an AWS setting.
  • Proficient in Event Driven Architecture, Domain Driven Design, and Distributed Systems.
  • Experience in cloud solution architecture design, legacy app migration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong comprehension of messaging technologies and infrastructure.
  • Understanding how to implement caching solutions.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience in the complete development lifecycle and designing systems using Agile Methodology.
  • Experience in UI/UX technologies such as Angular and ReactJS.
  • Experience in dynamic, cross-functional teams with strong communication, analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Create technical documentation.

Education:

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field

Certifications:

  • Active AWS Certifications - considered a Plus!

General:
Exceptional organizational and communication abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload based on the needs of the client.
  • Capacity to handle uncertainty and adapt to frequent shifts in priorities.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional technical writing abilities and demonstrated expertise in managing systems with intricate demands.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate effectively in achieving project goals.
  • A knowledge of the system development lifecycle, particularly its implementation with Agile methodology, would be beneficial. Familiarity with SAFe would also be advantageous.
  • Important Information about this job:
    To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the U.S. and have lived here for at least three of the last five years.
  • Must be able to obtain a badge for U.S. Federal government clients and pass a background investigation for government Public Trust.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
  • This position is partially remote 2 days a week and requires residency in Maryland or Northern Virginia. A full remote schedule is not available.
  • As a condition of employment, individuals must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
