Senior Natural Software Developer

Required Skills;

At least ten (10) years of experience programming in a Natural/ADABAS development environment.

At least ten (10) years of hands-on experience following a structured System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

A least two (2) years of experience on Job Control Language (JCL) and Time Sharing Option (TSO).

Language (JCL) and Time Sharing Option (TSO).

Desirable Technical Qualifications

It is desirable for the proposed project person to have the following listed experience, knowledge, skills and abilities as evidenced by Attachment II, Proposed Project Person Skill Summary Sheet and resume:

Experience working with a pension or financial system.

Experience developing batch programs to correct database records.

Experience with the conversion of data from ADABAS to Structured Query Language (SQL) Server.

Experience with and knowledge of SQL.

A. Description of Services

The Senior Natural Software Developer (Contractor) will be responsible for the execution of the following mainframe system activities to resolve/respond to, as assigned: 1) Incidents, 2) Data Change Requests, 3) Information Requests, 4) Enhancements, 5) Data Cleansing, and 6) Data Conversion between the current and future pension system.

The Contractor is expected to perform various system analysis and programming activities related to one or more of the following assigned project/efforts:

Data Quality Project

Operational and legislation implementation efforts

Other enterprise projects requiring Natural Software Developer support

The Contractor reports directly to CalSTRS Chief Technology Officer or designee based on assignment, and may be assigned to one or more teams, programs or projects during the total services period.

Work may be performed utilizing a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions during CalSTRS business hours. In-office work will be conducted at CalSTRS Headquarters in West Sacramento, CA. Work schedules must be pre-approved in writing by CalSTRS management. Remote work requires prior approval from CalSTRS Information Security Office (ISO) and must adhere to CalSTRS policies and procedures. The CalSTRS Contract Manager shall provide a plan for on-site and remote work. At CalSTRS' discretion, a different approach (i.e., fully in-office, fully remote or different work hours) may be utilized based on CalSTRS business need and/or directive. The selected Vendor/Contractor is responsible for any travel costs that they may incur while providing the services identified in the Statement of Work.

B. Tasks/Deliverables

The Contractor shall perform all of the following tasks and deliverables, as assigned, but not limited to:

Follow the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology in developing quality solutions to meet customer needs.

Under general direction from team management and leads, formulate and define system scope and objectives.

Work at a high technical level on all phases of application system analysis and programming activity.

Work with customers to identify and document business requirements.

Perform analysis to determine system and performance impact.

Develop or modify functional specifications.

Develop technical specifications, detailed test plans, test scripts, and test execution checklists.

Construct code to meet specifications.

Conduct unit and system integration testing.

Prepare software release documents.

Participate in quality assurance peer reviews of business requirements, technical specifications, test documentation, and code.

Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.

May be responsible for completing one or more phases of an enhancement effort.

May be responsible for leading a team of developers for individual system enhancements.

Such other tasks and related services to provide the tasks/deliverables hereunder, as requested by CalSTRS.

Transfer of knowledge to appropriate CalSTRS employees is required, along with any requested materials and content for transfer of knowledge.
