Essential Job Functions:

The Research Associate I (RA) will be assigned to one or more research projects aimed at the further development of the Companys product assays on our proprietary platform. The projects range from initial research to pre-product development and can involve substantial interdisciplinary activity and collaboration. The goal will be to bring a project from concept to full scale test and deployment. The Research Associate will participate in experiment planning, execution, and data analysis in a biologic laboratory.

  • Performs lab work and assays/experiments utilizing lab equipment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Performs process development, assay development, product testing and optimization of diagnostic tests.
  • Performs initial data analysis, records, and communicates findings.
  • Handle and utilize lab equipment as required and must be comfortable working in a lab.
  • Ensures compliance with established business policies and regulatory requirements
  • Functional knowledge of chemistry and biology principles applicable to a diagnostic industry.
  • Willingness to troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of statistical methods and techniques.
  • Handle biohazardous materials in accordance with Company and FDA regulations.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

RA I: Bachelors degree in Life Sciences or similar field; prior experience with standard laboratory equipment, conducting experiments and following protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a fast-pasted environment, working on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience working in Biosafety level 2 laboratory preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and documentation skills.
  • Experienced with MS Office
  • Data analysis software/programming language preferred (e.g., Graphpad Prism, R, Python).
  • Well-organized and a collaborative, team player, able to demonstrate ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written/presentation).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Working Conditions:

Work will be performed in both an office and a laboratory environment. Office setting will involve sitting and standing, bending, kneeling, transferring across the body from side to side, lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, utilizing phone and computer equipment. LightDeck laboratories handle biohazards and potentially infectious, human-derived samples such as blood products. Laboratory personnel will be trained to work in Biosafety Level 2 laboratory settings and are required to follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements. Lab process equipment may include analyzing and testing tools and the usage of chemicals and reagents. Lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds.

SALARY: $50,000 70,000 full-time non-exempt (hourly position)
