On behalf of our client, the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) located in Erie, Pennsylvania, Decision Associates is seeking candidates for the position of Safety and Security Manager. EMTA has been in operation since 1966 and serves as the municipal authority that owns and operates the public transport system in Erie County which includes the 'e', the area's transit buses; LIFT, the county paratransit service; and the Bayliner Trolley.

The Safety and Security Manager is responsible for administering safety and security policies for EMTA as well as coordinating, implementing, and evaluating overall safety (SAFTI) programs of the transit authority.


*Because this is an in-person role, we are seeking candidates who are already located in Erie, Pennsylvania or within commuting distance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, coordinate, and implement SAFTI plans for EMTA
  • Coordinate with SAFTI and TSA for all regulated safety and security policies
  • Implements corrective action when safety/security issues arise
  • Conducts accident investigations for EMTA vehicles
  • Coordinates emergency plans with local fire, police, and first responders
  • Develops and implements fire, safety, emergency, and other related drills and training for EMTA staff and facilities
  • Ensures all safety/security policies and procedures are updated and ready for public audits
  • Chairs EMTA Safety Committee and reports on committee meetings to CEO and Director of Operations
  • Coordinate with HR office for Workers Compensation injuries with underwriter and ensure panel of providers is updated as needed
  • Work with insurance underwriter on all accidents and/or lawsuits filed against EMTA from the public related to EMTA fleet vehicles

Requirements

  • At least 4 years experience in organized safety programs including program management and policy implementation for an industrial firm, public utility, or governmental/public agency required.
  • At least 2 years experience fire prevention/firefighting or law enforcement as well as accident investigation preferred.
  • At least 2 years supervisory/managerial experience working with high level management, governmental agencies, political figures, and frontline staff preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication as well as organizational skills
  • Experience using MS Office suite of products Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Must be detail oriented, have strong analytical and problem solving skills, and possess excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Must have valid Class C Drivers License prior to hire date
  • Must have ability to obtain and keep updated Child Abuse Clearance
  • Must have ability to pass criminal background check as well as Department of Transportation physical and drug screen
