WOW BAO is hiring a SALES MANAGER (Grocery and Retail) for our team in Chicago!

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sales Manager Grocery/Retail position will report into the Senior Director and will continue the growth of our rapidly expanding consumer packaged goods (CPG) business. You will be part of building the strategy and responsible for the execution of the Wow Bao CPG trade and shopper marketing. You will develop a category vision that will cement Wow Bao as a grocery store staple. You will own and execute distribution and assortment strategies. You will build and develop relationships across retail partners to increase distribution and keep Wow Bao winning at retail. This position is on-site five days a week in our River North office.

Requirements

  • Trade Marketing You will lead trade marketing strategy for the business and assure Wow Bao is set up to Win at Retail. You will also deliver strategy and more efficient promotional spend without risk to buyer relationships and competitive advantage. You will own and manage trade spend budget to maximize revenue while managing profitability. You will supervise promotional compliance to guardrails across existing and new items.
  • Shopper Marketing You will lead shopper marketing strategy by building a playbook to drive velocity across the category and increase market share.
  • New Business You will assist in growth of the Wow Bao grocery business through customer presentations and new business outreach including emails, LinkedIn and networking.
  • Category Strategy You will focus on uncovering category insights and developing fact based selling tools, presentations, profitable promotional plans, and new innovations to grow the category with existing retailers.
  • Customer Focus Your ability to collaborate with customer decision makers will be key to your success. You will strive to influence the customer with fact-based strategy and execution anchored in category growth.
  • Sales Forecasting You will lead sales forecasting and work cross functionally with supply chain and manufacturing to assure high service levels to customers.
  • Trade Shows You will assist in trade show identification, planning and execution.
  • Service Level Communications You will manage product supply gaps through efficient communication with supply chain to minimize revenue loss and maintain customer prioritization.
  • Commercialization You will develop comprehensive understanding of commercialization process and track progress of new item commercialization against pre-specified launch dates to hit customer resets.
  • Internal Optimization - Driving a strong alignment and partnership internally will be imperative. Working closely across marketing, finance, supply chain, and culinary.
  • Assist operations team with off-site events such as Lollapalooza and local events.
  • Some travel may be required, up to 25%.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of four years of sales or category management experience in the food/beverage consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
  • Experience in frozen CPG sales is preferred.
  • Proficient in analytical and problem-solving capability with experience using data; Nielsen, IRI, Syndicate/panel data familiarity a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience managing trade spend budget or similar budget management experience.
  • Advanced Excel knowledge and experience working with databases.
  • Experience in PowerPoint and building customer presentations.
  • Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency of the English language.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines and effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all policies, procedures and standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Handbook Supplements.
