HAPPIER is looking for an experienced Sanit Captian to ensure seamless event execution. While the Events Sales team is the direct contact with the client, the Sanit Captain manages the BOH & FOH team from set up through guest experiences till break down and load out. They will drive workflow efficiencies, create the event Steps of Service with Staff Assignments, and provide floorplans and stations for our BOH areas and FOH support areas, as well as vendor areas. the role delivers thorough and thoughtful hospitality and service in a variety of environments. The Sanit Captain must have great communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a knowledgeable passion for food and beverage service and premises event logistics.

Responsibilities

  • Create a HAPPIER experience for all guests, members, and coworkers
  • Own organization of the flow of back-of-house areas for catered events and set the tone of professionalism and care for space
  • Collaborate with Event and Bar Captain(s) to ensure BOH follows proper steps of service while maintaining a sense of urgency throughout service
  • Ensure constant communication with Event Chefs, other Captains, staff members, management, and the kitchen during service through proper channels
  • Maintain a polished and professional appearance and demeanor
  • Lead the team to complete set-up and break-down tasks
  • Ensure proper check-in and organization of all rented materials during the event
  • Supervise and report accurate receiving, usage, and return of all rental equipment
  • Thoughtfully review all event paperwork in advance and communicates concerns and suggestions
  • Effectively communicate back-of-house event plans to the FOH and Culinary team, including use of space, flow, timeline, rental equipment, and garbage
  • Complete and submit post-event reports within 24 hours, including appropriate detail, with the goal of strengthening the team and improving procedures
  • Enforce HAPPIER guidelines and Department of Health (DOH) standards
  • Provide a safe, clean, organized, and sanitary work environment
  • Performs other duties as directed

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Events as Sanit Captain
  • NYC Food Handlers Certificate
  • Train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline team members so that standards are met daily
  • Comfortable and experienced with overseeing and leading BOH service areas flow
  • Strong Organizational Skills and attention to detail
  • Supervises employees in the Catering Department
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and works well in an environment with time constraints
  • Able to handle last-minute changes
  • Energetic and friendly personality, with strong willingness and ability to work as part of a cohesive team and to support colleagues regardless of role
  • Willingness to take direction, embrace change and innovation, and learn and adapt to new systems, service steps, and health and cleaning procedures
  • Broad and flexible availability to work AM/PM service, nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the work area and property
  • Physical requirements include: the ability to handle and carry trays, small ware, equipment, or other items up to 35lbs, and to stand, walk up and down stairs, and exert well-paced mobility for extended periods of time
  • Meets with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements and last-minute changes and resolve problems
  • Assembles and delivers food and supplies to the scheduled catering functions
  • Returns food, beverages, serving equipment, and utensils to the catering facility
