Pinon Unified School District, an education management organization, is seeking a School Counselor to join our team. As a School Counselor, you will be responsible for providing a range of counseling services to students of all ages. In this role, you will play an instrumental part in ensuring that our students succeed both academically and personally.

Pinon Unified School District has a rich history of educating the children of our community for nearly 30 years. Our services have grown from only schooling primary grades to educating students from preschool through grade 12 at three campuses. We prioritize providing the best education available to the children of our community, and our School Counselor will play a crucial role in achieving that goal.


Responsibilities

  • Provide personal and social counseling to students in need
  • Assist students in resolving conflicts with peers, teachers or family
  • Develop and implement comprehensive counseling plans for individual students and groups
  • Refer students to outside professionals, where necessary
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to families and staff
  • Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team to develop intervention plans for struggling students
  • Conduct individual and group sessions on topics such as career development, problem-solving and decision-making

Requirements

  • Masters degree or higher in counseling, therapy, social work or a related field
  • Certified School Counselor (according to Arizona Department of Education requirements) OR Licensed Counselor (i.e., licensed by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners)
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High level of emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Familiarity with evidence-based counseling interventions
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism
