Senior Accountant | Controller, Family Office Location: US-TX-Dallas Email this job to a friend

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite) | Type: Full time | Salary: $100,000 +
The Senior Accountant / Controller, Family Office, makes the complexity of multi-asset, multi-individual family ownership, and wealth management comprehensible through thoughtfully designed and impeccably executed accounting, reporting, tax, estate, philanthropic and personal financial planning services.
Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain critical accounting, performance reporting and benchmarking tools to enable the owners to intelligently manage the following assets:
- Commodore Fund LLC, a diversified external investment portfolio
- OC Properties, a directly owned income-producing real estate portfolio
- Trust/Estate planning entities, including corporate records administration
- Enable the CEO and Ownership Group to master the complexity of their assets through summarization, overview reporting and compilation of periodic communication packets
- Collect and organize financial reports related to underlying assets and investments as theyre released and create a universal reporting resource for interested parties on a monthly, quarterly or annual rhythm as needed, converting raw reporting formats into those more useful for the end-user
- Work with outside tax accountants and family office investment managers to gather records necessary for on-time tax filing and develop a filing system for these records in between tax seasons
- Save management and ownership time by serving as the central coordinator of information requests and document preparation from authorized third-parties during transactions, entity formation and other financial, tax or estate planning events
- Define and document accounting and bookkeeping policies and record-keeping procedures for historical reference and emergency operational continuity
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy and proactively create needed structure, process and safeguards as you go based upon your insights
- Identify opportunities to automate data-entry and other repetitive processes to economize on time and reduce entry-related mistakes
- Build and maintain quarterly personal balance sheets and other financial statements for individual owners
- Facilitate estate planning strategy as requested with outside specialists
- Support direct investment activity with accounting, reporting, formation documentation and due diligence as required
- Guide the administration and operations of the familys philanthropic foundation as requested
- Coordinate, counsel, and secure special personal finance (ie, mortgages on personal properties, etc.)
- In all things, at all times, be of service to the family ownership group in their personal affairs
Position Requirements: - Bachelors degree or higher in accounting or related field
- 5+ years proven accounting experience
- Professional experience in commercial real estate is a plus
- Professional accounting certification or CPA is a plus
- Prior experience working for or with a Family office highly valued
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics and competencies: - High proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft suite products
- Experience in building forecasting and other investment models
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, proactive, discreet, and trustworthy
- Team player attitude, with the ability to work well with others
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented
- Ability to resolve issues; problem solve on a proactive basis
