The Senior Accountant primarily is responsible for preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciliations, management of fixed asset reporting, preparation of state sales and property tax filings, preparation and review of monthly financial reporting for software development projects, monitoring and forecasting cash balances, assisting with annual audits, and other accounting projects as assigned. This position works closely with the IT department and acts as a liaison in regards to any financial matters related to software development projects. This role can be located in either our South Bend, IN or Chicago, IL office.



Duties And Responsibilities



Month-end journal entries and reconciliations




  • Prepare various month-end journal entries as assigned to assist in the financial close and reporting process each month.

  • Reconcile fixed asset and related accounts each month to ensure accuracy of recorded transactions.

  • Review actual expenses to budget to identify trends and potential accounting adjustments

Monthly software development project financial reporting


  • Prepare financial reports for software projects on a monthly basis

  • Review project financial results with project managers monthly





  •  

Cash/Treasury Items


  • Monitor daily cash balances

  • Forecast cash balances for future periods





  •  

Management of fixed asset reporting


  • Generate and reconcile fixed asset reports monthly.

  • Upload new assets into the fixed asset system.





  •  

State sales and property tax filings


  • Prepare monthly and annual filings

  • Monitor and comply with applicable filing deadlines

  • Review filings for potential tax savings





  •  

Assist with annual audits


  • Prepare requested information for auditors

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree, preferably in Accounting of Finance, with 4-6 years of related job experience.

  • CPA preferred.

  • Candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work with others in a collaborative environment, and a strong attention to detail.

Special Working Conditions



Due to the expectations of the role and location of the Company’s business leaders, position requires working outside of normal business hours and some travel to regional offices.
