Senior Analytics Engineer DBT Lead - USA Remote - Max Salary $170,000

Note: Applicant must be resident of the USA or Green Card Holder.

Must have experience in Data Build Tool (DBT)

Overview /Objective:

Our Sports Analytics & Engineering Practice is seeking a seasoned Senior Analytics Engineer DBT Lead, whose primary focus would be defining and bringing our clients vision for their ultra-modern data environment to life. These data assets will be used across business & data analytics teams and will become the core repository for their data needs. This involves discovering needs for data stakeholders, architecting solutions, and building infrastructure to transform raw data into high-value data assets that support those needs. Building these cloud-centric assets will be key in driving the mission to build word class customer data platform. We are looking for an individual who cares about organising data into reusable and maintainable components and can bring their energy to helping us grow this function.

Responsibilities:

  • You will leverage your experience and skills with Data Modeling, SQL, Jinja templating and DBT to build robust, performant, and reliable data transformation and feature extraction pipelines
  • Collaborate with business and technical team members to collect business requirements to deliver best-in-class dimensional data models to serve as single-source-of-truth for product, customer, and marketing analytics
  • Design, develop and maintain the data architecture, data models and standards for various Data Integration & Data Warehouse projects in DBT, Redshift & Glue
  • Full stack ownership of data models in DBT to supercharge analysts, data scientists, and BI engineers
  • Define, develop, and enhance the dbt/SQL codebase and companion ERD documents used to bring the Analytics Warehouse to life
  • Analyze the data quality, align technical design to data governance, address all the required nonbusiness but operational requirements during the design and build of data pipelines

Apply software engineering best practices like version control and continuous integration to the analytics code base

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters (preferred) degree in in a quantitative or technical field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience and progressive responsibility in data and analytics and modern data platforms
  • 5+ years writing SQL with advanced level knowledge, including various join types, CTEs, partitioning, pivoting, and aggregates
  • 4+ years extensive experience with DBT, including building complex & maintainable DBT models and developing DBT packages/macros
  • Deep familiarity with dimensional modeling/data warehousing concepts and expertise in designing, implementing, operating, and extending enterprise dimensional models
  • Understand change data capture concepts and database triggers
  • Advanced experience working with CLI and source control (Git preferable)
  • Experience working with Cloud data platforms, preferably AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift)
  • Python proficiency or general knowledge of Jinja templating in Python is a plus
  • Understanding of the full software lifecycle and how development teams should work with DevOps to create more software, faster
  • Agile experience and willingness to work with extended offshore teams and assist with design and code reviews with customer

A great teammate and self-starter, strong detail orientation is critical in this role.
