Extracker is seeking a back end software developer to help build and grow a world-class engineering team and culture. While reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you will build out a new software category within the massive trillion dollar commercial construction industry. We have a hands-on culture and expect the same of our developers.
What youll do
Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with our Product Development team members to define, create and maintain the Extracker platform
- Write and maintain unit tests and other quality checks to maintain a high level of coding excellence
- Share your knowledge and experience with other team members through code reviews, pairing, lunch presentations and other sessions
- Identify pain points and areas of improvement for the development organization, with an eye toward improving ROI
The team you would join is working on projects such as:
- Building new integrations to relieve customers' time-consuming need to double-enter data
- Removing the need to add error-prone and inefficient cost data by leveraging industry-standard codes
- Training classifiers which suggest and learn new cost categories to improve in-platform analytics and reporting
- Refactoring and tuning an existing code base which has found product-market fit to scale to match the size of our customer base

The construction industry is being transformed fast by technology, but the way companies communicate costs hasnt evolved in decades and still heavily relies on carbon copy paper, spreadsheets and email to track billions of dollars. These arcane manual processes can take days or weeks and include hours of manual office tasks such as scanning, manually transcribing, and tedious data-entry into spreadsheets.
At Extracker we are changing that and creating a new category change order communication, by intelligently digitizing this age-old process. This leads to an increase in profits, more successful contractor to customer relationships, more transparency into a projects true cost, and less wasted paper!

Requirements
What youll need:
- 4+ years of software development experience, preferably in a startup environment
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Node or Golang
- Proven track record delivering tuned SQL queries and optimized data store use
- Experience breaking down complex problems and working out clever solutions in a team
