Senior Ballistics Engineer Location: US-UT-Layton Email this job to a friend

- Conduct composite part & tooling design, manufacturing processes and materials selection
- Create drawings from 3D Models and drawings in accordance with ASME standards
- Manage various body armor and composites projects and coordinate all procurements and fabrication to meet the program cost and schedule requirements
- Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes (ISO9001, AS9100D, and NADCAP)
- Support continuous improvement
- Write detailed build, assembly, inspection, and production instructions to assist the production team
- Identify root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for discrepancies and deficiency
- Utilize the lean manufacturing approach to make the manufacturing process more efficient
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
Requirements - Education/Training (both required and desired):
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or relevant engineering or science discipline required
- Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in terminal ballistics and/or composites part design
- Understanding and experience with fracture mechanics desired
- Understanding and experience performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) desired
- Security:
- Must be a US citizen
- Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
