Cuberg, a Northvolt company, is seeking a Senior Battery Modeling Engineer to join its Advanced Technology Center team in Silicon Valley. As a Battery Modeling Engineer, you will lead projects in developing and implementing models and simulations to support next-generation lithium metal cells and modules. The selected candidate will serve as the primary contact person with Materials R&D and Advanced Manufacturing teams, oversee lab measurements and experiments, provide technical guidance and insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize battery performance and efficiency. Responsibilities - Develop and implement physics-based models to support design and production of next-generation lithium-metal cells.
- Utilize analytical and numerical simulations to evaluate and optimize cell design, including electrochemical performance, thermal management, and aging behavior.
- Collaborate closely with materials R&D and advanced manufacturing teams to understand battery design and manufacturing processes and to translate them into modeling parameters.
- Serve as the primary contact person for R&D and manufacturing teams, actively driving communications, collaboration, and alignment between teams.
- Generate design-of-experiments and oversee lab measurements conducted by technicians and researchers, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis.
- Analyze simulation and experimental data, communicate results to the team, and suggest new pathways for development
Requirements - MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials, or related area.
- Fundamental knowledge of lithium-based cell electrochemistry and mechanisms.
- Strong background in physics-based modeling of electrochemical & thermal processes pertaining to lithium batteries and familiarity with software packages such as MATLAB, Python, and COMSOL.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a highly cross-functional environment.
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude.
- Preferred: Direct experience with multiphysics packages such as COMSOL.

The San Francisco / Bay Area cash compensation (base + bonus) range for this full-time position is $127,000 - $157,800 + equity + benefits.
