The position is within the EMEAs Cost Estimating Organization and is responsible for estimating proposal costs for Blue & Green Hydrogen plants, Process Gases plants, Integrated Gases plants and Generated Gases for projects in Europe, Middles East & Africa (EMEA).The Senior Cost Estimator will be reporting to the Estimating Manager and will have a role of the Lead Estimator assigned to medium and large projects (typically 100M to in excess of 1B).
The
Senior Cost Estimator
prepares, presents, and reviews the overall project estimates. Responsible to support all aspects of developing project estimates, ranging from initial conceptual estimates to detailed forecasts for projects in execution. Conducts cost, schedule, and risk analysis and a full range of estimate planning, coordination and consolidation. Exercises leadership via influence on a wide range of project and proposal team members.
Principal accountabilities:
Preparing detailed estimate development plans and interfacing between Engineering, Procurement, Contracts, Construction, Project Management & Proposal Management to assess key deliverables and timeline for the estimate development.
Responsible to generate a complete cost estimate from basic take offs through final cost of all equipment, bulks, fabrication, construction man-hours, direct and In-direct cost.
Assure and challenge the technical elements to ensure their consistency in regard to the defined scope.
Ensure estimate quality and integrity, including quality data checks.
Review procurement pricing for equipment and bulk materials, bids for subcontract packages for construction. May participate in discussions / negotiations with vendors and contractors.
Provides guidance, direction and specialized assistance for the resolution of complex estimating problems in accordance with the companys procedures.
Support the development and maintenance of estimate benchmarks and metrics.
Preparing detailed basis of estimates and estimate review packages.
Effectively present review packages, including analysis, to estimate team, department management, business line management, and senior executives.
Working with product lines / product development teams to optimise costs for standard plants.
Skills and Qualifications:
10+ years in Estimating related position including industrial process facilities.
2+ years in Field Construction, Construction Management, or Construction Controls, Proposal Development in an industrial setting is a plus.
Bachelors degree in engineering, construction, or business is preferred.
Experience with Aspen Capital Cost Estimator tool is a plus.
Experience using standard software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and PowerBI to assess and present estimating and project performance data.
Experience in estimates for Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Experience with international construction and commonly used international estimating methods is a plus.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Has excellent English written and oral communication skills as the role will include presentations for plans and estimates to Air Products senior management.
Has experience of leading multinational teams in multiple locations.

Expertise to ensure estimate quality and integrity, including incorporation of lessons learned into the estimate.
Demonstrated ability to establish the conceptual scopes of estimates and studies when definition is not available; applies experience and expert judgment to compensate for undefined scope.
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills to assess estimates and compare with historical performance on projects.
Flexibility in terms of travel, changing priorities, and workload (Note: This position requires up to 20% travel).
