Senior DevOps Engineer
Part of Kantar Group, Blackwood Seven is a fast-growing AI as a service company, and we are looking for a bright and enthusiastic Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team and help scale and secure our infrastructure for the future.
Come and join our Site Reliability Team as we are currently hiring for our Copenhagen office with a possible start date of 1st of April.
About the Role:
Blackwood Seven works with cutting-edge AI systems, supported by some of the newest tech available. Our systems are based on a microservice architecture where everything runs in AWS cloud, and we have a large Kubernetes setup for running machine learning models and many other products. We have a you build it, you run it approach to building software, meaning your main responsibility will be to provide an infrastructure for other developers.
At Blackwood Seven you will be part of a team that helps develop secure and scalable infrastructure. Together with the other members of the team, you will be in charge of managing our Kubernetes clusters running in AWS, as well as various additional infrastructure, such as databases, logging, monitoring, networking and CI/CD pipeline.
You will also be helping our developers, by improving their build systems, deployment systems, and the custom tooling that is needed.
Finally, you will be building tools and helping the developers deliver value faster.
The team works in close collaboration with the AI team and the Development team - all product development teams are in our Copenhagen office.

Essential Competencies:
Collaborative Problem-Solving: Actively engage with team members to diagnose and resolve technical issues such as system outages, performance bottlenecks or managing incidents.
Adaptive Learning: Demonstrate the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and skills in unfamiliar areas to address emerging challenges.
Proactive System Enhancement: Independently identify and present improvements for our roadmap that will optimize existing technological infrastructures.
Linux: Experience in Linux Administration on Debian systems.
Kubernetes Expertise: Skilled in Kubernetes orchestration, preferably with Kops experience.
AWS: Experience in working with AWS (or other cloud providers).
Programming Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as Bash or Go.
Desirable Additional Skills:
Unified Logging: Familiarity with Graylog or similar platforms for log management.
Alerting and Monitoring: Experience with leveraging and enhancing existing alerting and monitoring frameworks.
Networking: Experience in handling network restrictions within Kubernetes clusters and between applications. Familiarity with network policies, firewall rules, and other security measures to control traffic flow and access within a distributed computing environment is needed.
Distributed Systems Knowledge: Understanding of the complexities and management of distributed computing environments.
Vulnerability Management: Experience using existing vulnerability scanning tools to detect and generate reports on security weaknesses. Hands-on experience in remediating vulnerabilities, particularly in a clustered infrastructure.
CI/CD Expertise: Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment systems, such as CircleCI and ArgoCD.
GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with GitOps principles and IaC practices.
