Job Description

About the role::

CaaStle is looking for a Senior Director of Data Engineering role for its growing Data engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for software development, quality assurance, delivery and support for all data-related features and products. You will be managing a strong team of highly motivated and focused managers, engineers and architects. A big part of your ownership will be hiring strong talent into the group, mentoring team members for future leadership roles. You will have the custodianship of a productive, engaged and motivated Engineering team.

At CaaStle, our data warehouse is central to our core business decisions. Our data-science and analytics teams rely entirely on the fidelity of our data warehouse. As the engineering head of this group, you will be tasked with ensuring that our end-to-end processes of data ingestion and validation work correctly and seamlessly.

You will also be operating in a highly dynamic environment, and thrive on navigating ambiguity and solving complex problems while collaborating and communicating with various stakeholders driving the business including but not limited to technology leadership, product management, business operations and other engineering teams.

What youll do

Regular:

• Work closely with stakeholders across the company to define and drive operational execution of complex, scalable, high-performance cross functional Big Data pipeline development for our innovative products.
• Collaborate with the product and other stakeholders across the company as subject matter expert and build the data system roadmap aligned with company strategy and business objectives.
• Concurrently manage multiple projects and initiatives within and across teams and communicate crisply with stakeholders.
• Drive the solutions to modern challenges to a high scaling business model by keeping key focus on performance, quality, security, compliance and privacy.
• Plan, execute, deliver and review all projects in your domain of ownership.
• Communicate on requirements, architecture, design and development activities and choices to all stakeholders.
• Act as company culture influencer by acting as role model for all company core values.
• Proactively address conflicts independently within and across team and function.
• Drive and lead changes and uncertain scenarios with minimum support and clear communication across stakeholders.
• Define and track resource productivity, resourcing model, quality control metrics and execution of all projects in your domain of ownership.

Periodic:

• Influence senior management, advocate peers, and drive junior team members on tech strategy decisions in Big Data technologies.
• Collaborate with senior management on cross team conflict resolution within your area of responsibility.
• Contribute proactively for engineering tools, technology and processes feedback.

Other:

• Be an influencer, promote openness and listening for understanding and adapting to the audience.
• Be an active contributor to thought leadership in delivering a game-changing experience and continuously raise the bar of what we build together as the team takes on new and unproven opportunities in a rapidly shifting landscape.

We d love for you to have:

Experience:

• 12+ years of hands-on experience in engineering development.
• Minimum 8+ years of engineering management experience delivering data warehouse products for a product based organization.

Must Have

• Demonstrated examples of successfully delivering compelling data warehouse solutions and product experiences.
• Proven ability to establish credibility at the executive level, and experience gaining consensus and approval for product and technology efforts across multiple functional leaders
• Highly data-driven with hands-on experience with technologies and not afraid to push the bounds of what s possible today and have the creativity to look at problems in new ways combined with rigorous learning of what works
• Strong understanding of Software Development strategies and Test Methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and presenting to leadership.
• Execution-focused with attention to details and can appropriately prioritize and manage conflicting requirements as per product roadmap.

Nice to have

• Demonstrated examples of delivering and scaling multi-tenant data management solutions.

Education:

• Bachelor s/Master s in Computer Science and Engineering from a tier-1 or tier-2 college.
• Certifications, thesis or advanced degree involving Data management are a plus.
