Summary

Capital Project Intelligence (CPI for short) is a full-service consultancy and project services firm serving North-American clients in the infrastructure, utility, and construction industries. We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to oversee electrical transmission and distribution engineering design work. The role is fully remote. The manager will oversee a team of engineers performing technical review and design work. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the design and construction of transmission and distribution systems, as well as a strong track record of project management and team leadership. The position will include hiring, creating standards and best-practices, implementing training processes, implementing a work-review process, designing metrics, developing workflows, communicating with the team, communicating with the client, and overseeing the project budget.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform technical review of design work, engineering plans, pole loading calculations and cost estimates relating to the construction or improvement of electric distribution systems
  • Evaluate engineering work relating to rebuilding of overhead circuitry, undergrounding of overhead circuitry, replacement or removal of equipment, and completion of as-builts
  • Ensure engineering calculations meet relevant design standards
  • Oversee a team of 10+ engineers performing technical review activities
  • Develop work-processes and metrics to measure and optimize team performance
  • Implement training processes to create consistency in work-output and enable more efficient onboarding
  • Analyze data and recommend solutions to improve project outcomes
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to project teams
  • Manage project budgets and schedules to ensure timely completion
  • Collaborate with clients and project managers to ensure project success
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and industry partners
  • Performs other duties as necessary

Requirements

  • Professional Engineer license (or equivalent) is required. Any U.S. state P.E. license is acceptable
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or a related field
  • Master's degree preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of experience in the utilities industry
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading teams
  • Be a strong communicator that is comfortable interacting with varied stakeholders as required
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Benefits

  • Salary: $165,000-$215,000 depending upon qualifications and experience
