About Washington County Mental Health Services

Washington County Mental Health Services (WCMHS) is 501(c)3 not-for-profit community mental health center, which provides support and treatment opportunities for children, adolescents, families, and adults living with the challenges of mental illness, emotional and behavioral issues, substance use disorder, and intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Within the last year, more than 6,700 individuals benefited from the services offered by WCMHS. Many of these individuals participated in multiple programs offered across the Agencys divisions, including prevention & wellness, assessment & stabilization, and 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-week emergency response.

Summary of Position

The Senior Human Resource Generalist (Compensation & Benefits) is responsible for managing the compensation and benefits administration functions. This position implements new and revised compensation and benefits programs, policies and procedures to align with the agencys goals and best practices. Acts as primary point of contact for HRIS system, which may include collecting, and analyzing HR data, metrics, and statistics related to employee compensation and benefits. Ability to utilize data to make strategic recommendations related to employee compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the daily administration of compensation and benefits programs.
  • Recommends creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Creates data presentation templates and reports to support strategic business decisions.
  • Primary point of contact for HRIS maintenance; support build out of new modules, updating existing applications and recommending changes to increase efficiency while ensuring accuracy of data.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations
  • Collects and compiles key HR metrics and data from a variety of sources, including human resource information systems (HRIS) and payroll outputs, benefits enrollment records, management and employee surveys, exit interviews, personnel records, leave use, competitors practices, and other sources.
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
  • Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance and dashboard metrics.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve existing metrics including changes to benefits, leave, and compensation offerings.
  • Facilitates implementation of open enrollment, changes to benefits plans, and other related initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field, Masters preferred.
  • Five to seven years of progressive human resource experience in the following areas: employee benefits administration such as health insurance, life insurance, 403b, workers compensation, ADA and FMLA LOA administration, employee compensation, and/or equal opportunity compliance and knowledge of Vermont employment laws required.
  • A minimum of three years supervisory experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or willingness to obtain credential.
