Job Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer - Circuit Emulation will be responsible for leading the replacement of TDM and SONET ADM Rings and Digital Cross Connects with a Circuit Emulation Network. This role will be part of a dynamic network labs environment and will involve extensive testing, evaluation, and integration of network elements. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of Layer 1 transport and Circuit Emulation technologies, as well as expertise in engineering network design and management of telecom networks.
Responsibilities:
Define and execute tests for assigned call/signaling flows, network elements, and business service features/enhancements.
Conduct thorough lab evaluations and integration testing of network elements, documenting results.
Assist in the development of progress reports.
Open defect tickets with detailed information in the appropriate tracking system.
Produce tested procedural documentation for hand-off to Operations during production network upgrades.
Act as the subject matter expert for Layer 1 transport and Circuit Emulation.
Provide expertise as the First Field Application and Tier 4 support as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a telecom environment.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in engineering network design and management of T1, T3, SONET, DACS, ADM, and DWDM networks.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and implementing complex IP routing scenarios (including OSPF, BGP, BFD, and MPLS).
Minimum of 2 years of experience working on layer 2 networks (Layer 2 Ethernet Transport, SyncE, and PTP).
Proven project experience in testing and certifying lab equipment, including developing and executing test cases, system testing, and network design.
Familiarity with lab test equipment such as Viavi, HP, etc.
Strong English communication skills and a genuine desire to expand knowledge of Layer 1, 2, and 3 technologies.
Certification: Cisco CCNA required, CCIE preferred.
