Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tons per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

The Senior Project Engineer is an integral part of Woodfibre LNGs project management dynamic team. You will lead and oversee portions of an engineering, procurement and construction project and will ensure compliance with legal and contractual environmental requirements for the project and contribute to Woodfibre LNGs enduring dedication to corporate social responsibility. The successful candidate reports directly to the Project Director and will play an essential part in supporting the companys engineering and senior management team through the construction phase of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will:

  • Support WLNG project management team to deliver the project on time and budget.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of key project plans, procedures, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, costs, and reports, as assigned.
  • Prepare project management reports, presentations, meeting minutes and action plans for senior management.
  • Manage assigned priority list and risks with PMT, BU, contractors, etc. to develop recommendations for review and approval.
  • Manage Decision Memorandums and Lessons Learned Register.
  • Communicate critical project information and status to internal and external stakeholders, as requested.

Requirements

Required Experience:

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years project execution experience working in both Client and Contractor organizations.
  • Experience in major capital projects in the Oil & Gas industry is preferred.
  • 5 + years experience in LNG major capital projects preferred.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to perform effectively under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to solve technical problems as they arise and make decisions on how a problems solution will impact the immediate problem and the system.
  • Be able to regularly shift between planned and unplanned activities, while remaining effective despite the resulting disruptive effects.
  • Proven capability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and meet established deadlines while managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, and equipment vendors.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams, contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Accepts responsibility and demonstrates commitment to delivery of tasks and targets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be Innovative and vision-oriented with demonstrated ability to undertake both strategic planning and implementation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities within tight time frames.
  • Demonstrates and seeks accountability within team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Expertise with a variety of computer programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Navisworks, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
  • Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
  • Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development.
  • A valid drivers license and passport.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Willingness to undertake business travel, as required.
  • Willingness to relocate to agreed location for given durations, if required, to support engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and/or commissioning.
  • Willingness to see the project through to final completion and handover to Operations.
  • The position is based in EPC contractors office located in the Energy Corridor of West Houston, TX, with travel to Vancouver, BC; to Squamish, BC (project site) and others, as required.
