Title: Senior Project / Program Manager (#12114)

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 7 months (Strong Potential to be extended for a year or longer if the candidate is a good fit)

The Project Manager (PM) will work within Legal IT, Global Sustainability and undertake project management of large projects. Delivering the portfolio of projects and services requires an individual with hybrid skill sets covering technical, analytical, project management, service management, BRM and business analysis skills, combined with an excellent knowledge of Client Finance and GPPS processes. Project Manager leads business and transformation projects/programs, ensures that they align to the vision and business strategy, and that true business value is delivered to the customer as a result.

The PM will also lead or contribute to a range of projects including pure IT, or IT and business change projects. These projects deploy a range of technologies including internal custom build solutions, packaged software, ERP solutions, Software as a Service, Cloud based solutions, BI tools.



Primary requirement is to manage the upgrade of existing patent management solution and migration of documents. The role will require standard project management skills and an ability to work with a number of other IT departments to ensure delivery. Management of external resources and vendors will be essential, requiring an organized individual with good communications skills and ability to formally track progress and proactively raise issues/risks to management. Working with teams located in different geographies is essential for success. PM will need to ensure all projects meet Client's relevant QA standards and comply with our standard ADF methodologies.



Typical Accountabilities:




  • Project Management skills including (but not limited to)

    • o Accurate planning and progress tracking

    • o Resource and Finance Management

    • o Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Decision (RAID) management

    • o Resource management

    • o Scope management

    • o Change Management

    • o Stakeholder Management

    • o Communications and Change Management

    • o Accurate Status Reporting



  • Manage projects via our PPM application (Clarity)

  • Provide project management support to project/program leadership by helping to manage issues, client requests, scope, and re-planning efforts

  • Work alongside stakeholders to analyze Client’s internal systems and extract data essential to project success

  • Work with end users, site administrators, program managers and others to receive feedback on current operations and requirements for new features, with little oversight from management

  • Support and facilitate client meetings and checkpoints

  • Develop client communications, such as status reports and meeting minutes

  • Create relevant documentation in support of implementation methodologies and QA requirements

  • Matrix management of IT vendors and internal resources

  • Work with respective Legal and IT stakeholders to ensure project is aligned with business expectations

  • Coordinate with other key Client Chennai IT roles especially BA and Testing teams





Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential Desirable:




  • 5+ years of experience as PM

  • 2+ Years of PM skills within Legal or Service Applications (preferably Cloud)

  • Structured and formal approach to project planning, tracking and reporting

  • Ability to explain RAID items to business stakeholders and elicit required outcomes

  • Strong facilitation skills and ability to influence

  • Demonstrated understanding of quality and compliance

  • Excellent relationship management, and influencing skills

  • Proven track record negotiating across complex groups

  • Precise documentation skills and attention to detail and focus on quality

  • Dealing with ambiguity and seeing delivery through to conclusion

  • Ability to work independently and with remote matrix organisations

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills

  • Strong analytical thinker

  • Strong collaboration skills

  • Legal Business Process experience in Patent and Document Management

  • Patent Management too (CPA) and Document Management (Worksite) is highly desirable

  • PMP certified (or similar)

  • PPM experience with Clarity Tool
