Senior Proposition and Innovation Specialist

Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB) is seeking a mid/senior level colleague to join the Proposition and Innovation (P&I) Team in the UK to lead a team of four proposition specialists, reporting directly into the MMB UK Executive Team via the P&I Leader. The role will be London-based, although we offer hybrid working in line with the rest of the Marsh McLennan group.

What can you expect:

As part of a small but specialist team, this role seldom becomes a vacancy. Its potential for impact is significant as the workplace evolves at a fast pace fuelled by external factors such as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; artificial intelligence; a shift in how MMBs clients attract and retain talent via more purpose-driven agendas, and a tumultuous political and economic external environment.

The P&I team are a central function within the UK MMB business responsible for bringing new propositions and partnerships to market from ideation through to post-implementation management. Driving diversified revenue via new and innovative solutions across the full spectrum of employee benefits is the teams North Star, and is essential to protecting and growing MMB UKs ability to drive greater and stronger outcomes for clients, customers and for MMB.

An opportunity to impact MMB UKs medium and long term growth strategy

What you will be rewarded with:

We offer and embrace a hybrid working model that nurtures a collaborative working environment in the office 3 days per week allowing 2 days per week to be spent working on a remote basis within the UK.

Competitive benefits package including: 25 days annual leave, up to 4 days of flexible bank holidays, excellent pension contributions, private medical cover, life assurance, income protection, employee assistance program, plus a range of flexible benefits including the option to buy or sell up to 5 days holiday per year, cycle to work, dental insurance, health assessments plus many more.

We will rely on you to:

Engage with providers and represent MMB with senior leaders at insurer and provider partners

Build business cases, prioritising client impact potential, revenue impact, and go-to-market and distribution strategy

Oversee the creation, prioritisation and execution of a roadmap of propositions and partnerships from start to finish

Manage stakeholders effectively to ensure the business engages with, and support the success, of our diversification and innovation journey.

Lead senior level meetings with internal and external stakeholders

Be curious, and already interested in emerging concepts such as advances in healthcare, Artificial Intelligence , wellbeing, and how we can leverage broader MMB and Marsh McLennan expertise and capabilities

Ask why? at every opportunity

What you need to have:

We are being deliberately non-specific when it comes to the professional background and experience of applicants, but there are specific skills which will underpin future success in the role:

Product knowledge and market experience A deep understanding in some of the following proposition areas is desirable: corporate healthcare, group risk, flexible benefits, and lifestyle and wellbeing. A deep technical knowledge would be advantageous although is not a prerequisite. The ability to grasp new concepts and visualise them in a workplace context assists us to quickly identify which concepts to take forward, and which to park.

Advanced stakeholder management The ability to balance and adapt to the needs of a range of individuals and groups of stakeholders at all levels of seniority is vital to bringing ideas and partnerships to life. Our team is ultimately one of change management and bringing the business on a journey is vital to it feeling part of the change, as opposed to having change done to it.

Commercial acumen An ability to negotiate strong commercial outcomes, balancing the needs and requirements of our provider partners and our MMB business. Commercial arrangements also need to be fair, transparent, and work within our boundaries as a market-leader consulting firm operating in a highly regulated market.

Ability to build relationships and network The ability to build and maintain a trusted network, internally and externally. Being a senior role within the business, the candidate would hold and develop senior relationships with external providers and also be a point of contact for new providers seeking to partner with MMB.

Project prioritisation and workload management It is critical to this role that the candidate can apply focus and prioritisation in areas where client and revenue impact will be the greatest.

What makes you stand out:

This role could suit a candidate who is looking to make an impact on the medium and long term success of our business. Having a good track record demonstrating the above competencies, coupled with people management experience would be beneficial.
